Yesturday I got a call that are 2 1/2 year old Bassett was run over by a car.....:( It was her own fault. She would get out and nothing would bring her home till she was good and ready.
My wife chased her for two hours yesturday. Plus two of my nieghers were in on the fun. My wife had to go to a appointment so she had to leave the dog out.
She came home to find a lady on her hands and knees in my front yard crying because she had just killed my dog.
The Dog was a payne in the ASS but im really going to miss her. I just got done digging a hole in the back yard.....
What a SHITTY weekend!!!!!

We rescued our old family dog from a shelter where the previous owner had severely neglected him. They kept him on a 5 ft. chain for the first 2 years of his life. Anyway, this was a great dog---golden retriever. His only problem was that if he saw daylight out the front door, he'd run for it! Once out he'd play a game with you and wait till you got within a few feet, then take off again, this would go on for 2-3 hours:mad: Pissed me off then but now I realize that those are the best memories I have of him.
Sorry to hear about your pup, it's hard to realize how much you'll miss them until they're gone :frown:

My sincere condolences to you and yours. :(

So sorry to here this Dan,
My daughter's Lab runs in your neighborhood all the time, right on state route 90.
Her dog seems street smart, some are some aren't.
We lost a dog that way a few years back. It was a pomerianian, every time we opened the door he would shoot out. All the yelling and screaming wouldn't stop him, He just had to run. I don't know what makes a dog do that. One day he ran right out into a car, nothing anyone could do.
Sorry this happen to your dog:(

Dan, I'm sorry to here about the Dog. We had a black lab once that was so street smart he would wait for the green light. Our last dog we had for 16 years (half lab and golden) one day she went up into the woods and never came back. The vet told me that dogs often do that, they go off to die. Get another Dog and build a fence.

Sorry to hear about your dog. Havasu wouldn't be the same with out ours. We lost him one night in Havasu over 4th of July. He goes crazy with the fireworks and dug out of the backyard while we were at body beach checking out the fireworks show. We spent all night putting up signs and looking for him. We got him back the next morning though. He spent the night in someones house half a mile away. Here's some picks of "Buddy" or once you get to know him "Bud". By the way, this guys pulls in more chicks at the river than anybody! My girlfriend would never let me take him to the river without her. :)

Aww hell Big Daddy, quit your crying, suck it up and have a beer. :D
Only kidding of course. When I lost my golden 7 years ago I was so upset I cried my eyes out and swore I would never have another dog. 2 days later my wife sneaks 2 puppies in the house as a "surprise" and there was no way in hell I was ready for new ones. We offed them. Actually, one little neighbor girl kidnappped one of them...literally. Well Dan, as you know I now have a 1 year old female golden and a 3 month old male golden. I love them and take them with me everywhere. They even went today to go get the "new" boat. I'm truly sorry to hear about your loss, hope Val and family are taking as best as they can. And I hope you're ok after digging the hole. :D

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. It's hard on everyone including the lady who hit 'em.
I had an English/Irish Setter mix and she was great. But once she got out she would run for hours. She didn't know what a car was and always wanted to see who was in it so we always worried about her getting hit.
She had a stroke and I took her to the vet. Over the next few days I watched her get worse and worse until I had no choice but to say goodbye to her and have the vet put her down. Very tough time saying goodbye.

Sorry to hear about your dog.:( I have the same problem with one of my dog's. She absolutely will not stay in our back yard. I had to end up just keepin her tied up all the time. She's really a pain in the ass but my oldest son just loves her and would be just heart broken if I got rid of her.

Beagle's are some of the nicest dogs known. My sister has had 2. Funny little bastards! But they aren't too smart so keep an eye out for him/her.

when i was little the remaining 2 dogs my grandparents had for 20+ years died within 2 months of each other...I cried.
Several years later my parents got my brothers and i a dog. Went to school one day, and came home and the dog was gone, my parents gave it away... i cried.
We have 2 dogs now, and dread the day when they pass on, as all living things do.
Sorry for your loss, I do know how it feels.

Sorry to hear about your hound. I'm sure the new Beagle is gonna keep you & the family pretty busy (assuming it's a pup). We have two (8 & 10 months) :eek!: . Good luck with yours!

Our dogs are members of the family. Loosing one, especially suddenly, leaves a gap that only a new puppy can fill.
I found this out a couple of years ago. I feel your pain.
