Boston Harbor used to have a Thriving Marine Industry.... Thriving with a capital T .... Yacths, Pvt Ships, Boats, Stores, Mechanics, etc.....
John Kerry authored a Luxury Tax ..... ** All the boats went to Florida and the industry died....
Soon after Califonia adopted the same legislation.... Most boats fled to AZ and others registered federally i.e. Coast Guard and in the same breath most RV's went to Oregon, Az & NV for registration....
Please : If there is a Dem on the boards, someone explain to me how any of of the above is GOOD ....
Please, go ahead make my day ..... I dare ya !

Well, I'm certainly not a democrap, but I suppose if you were a government official in Florida, Oregon, Arizona or Nevada.....it could be said that the increase in revenue would be pretty good.:)

Have you been to ANY seaside marina in California in the past few years??? I was in San Diego bay the other day and there wasn't a bpat to be seen - I guess they all went to Havasu. There were empty marinas all over the place, and from what i hear, Newport Harbor is the same. Yea, JK really screwed us on that one!
I guess everything wrong in the world is the fault of the democrats! Yep, that must be it!
Now Carbondick, I believe your right wing christian morals wouldn't allow you to watch immoral movies from the den of you cuddy, now would they? F'ing hipocrite.

:D :D :D There - happy!
Rick's a nice guy, I like him, but he's always trying to place blame, and frankly, we've all got enough to go around....In one post he's talking about some porno star and how he's gonna watch it from his boat - I'd think that his "moral compass" wouldn't allow that to happen...
Now, about that beer! I'll be expecting it on Saturday afternoon!

And I'm really sure that if we re-elect GW Bush that heal strong arm California into repealing the luxury tax on our boats. Sure....

I think we are talking a's & o's.
I like a little porn now and again and I am a Right Wing Fanatic! BFD.
I want all politico's to stay out of my life, wallet and lifestyle. The Dem's just seem to want a bigger chunck of those than MY party does.
PS. Did you answer Rick's question?
Gotta Go... Off to prop test....

Okay.... stop, stop one brief second.....
What the Reps do with the whole indecancy thing is well
within the law.. ( EXISTING LAWS ) ... Summer, You've
listening to Howard too much..... Fact is, his own stations canned him because their stockholders cannot absort a large monetary hit or rather a fine ..... He's been getting away with murder on the Gov'ts Airwaves and teh majority of this Country wether you belive it or not is demanding the Govt get involved. ** Thank Janet Jackason... Besides for the betterment of his show, He really needs to go Private and teh only reason he has not done so yet is his own greed.... He want a 2% piece of hardware
sales post a certain annoucment date of the avaialbility of his show and both Corporations ( Sirrius & XM ) wont bend ...
Also, Since WHEN does spanking yourself on your own boat
make one " Morally Disingenuine " anyway ??
No knock, but your barking at teh wrong man...

Essex,
A president cant tell a state what to tax and want not to tax its citizens..... However , The Fed can tax the state and than teh state pass on that to the people. We as citizens can either move to a new state or effect change through legislature....
Its a funny thing called : States Rights... Its in our chater or did ya fall asleep in Poli Sci ....???

Exactly my point...the so-called Luxury Tax will not be affected by either man who may be president.

listening to Howard too much.....
First of all, I don't "listen" to Howard, but I will admit that I sometimes catch him if the station I listen to in the morning is on vacation or is onto something lame (KGB 101.5 in San Diego). SO, while I have heard him, to be truthful, I'm not a regular, or for that matter, irregular listener. Maybe, once a month for a few minutes.
Regarding decency laws, I don't give a rats behind what you do in private, more power to you. I don't care what party you belong to, what color your skin is, what religion you are, what your sexual orientation is or what you had for breakfast - what i do care about is where this country is going to go - what direction are we headed in? I guess we'll find out in November.
I flamed (and i usually don't do that) because I have heard so much crap like your first post (above) about it being Kerry's fault that the lux tax was passed? It just seems somewhat improper to claim that the lux tax is 100% the fault of JK. Besides, I don't hear too much complaining about it - I'd be interested to hear how many boat owners paid a Lux Tax on their boats. Come on, you and I (and OG as well) knows that there is enough blame to go around - both parties are to blame for the problems in our system - which I might add, is the best damn system in the world.
If I were to flame on "W" for anything, I'd have my ass handed to me on a skewer, so I try and keep to the non-political threads, but now and then I just have to chime in...
So, I could go on and say this or that about this or that republican, but what good would it do?

As long as we take responsibility for our actions, It's all good...
Dem's have controlled the political landscape in California for a few years now and If the Repubs want them out, they'd better gett off thier collective dead asses and get out the vote.
Carbonmarine want's Boxer out, like most normal Americans ;) but it aint gonna happen when the republican party doesn't spend a dime on promoting the poll (and I don't mean that poll). The Dem's have always done a better job of selling thier point of view, especially to those who feel dissenfranchised.
IMO

It's easy to sell the socialist ideals of the democrats in California with our socioeconomic makeup.
