I thought I would share some pics of my stereo installation, I think it will actually be finished here this weekend, then it's off to Havasu for a little run time...
These are a couple of early pics of the new rear bench, where I mounted four Boston Acoustic Pro Series 10" subs in a downfiring configuration...

Heres a look at the passenger footwell, Fosgate (no comment's HH) BD1000, one of four Boston Acoustic Pro Series 6.5 speaker's and on the edge is the Kenwood Z828 head unit,

One of the rear 6.5's mounted in the rear/center of the boat...

all the speakers and amps are backlit with very small neon tubes providing a soft and subtle glow for nighttime....
This is the Fosgate (no comment's HH) 400.4 power series

The rear 6.5....

A closer look...

A little off topic is the concurrent engine project....lot's of new shiny stuff...:)

I will post more detail after this weekend, after the last few changes and update's are done.
I need to give a very sincere thank you to Roz. I have bugged him incessantly for the past 6 months, and I very likely would not have been able to complete this without his help
Thanks.:)

Very nice. that's a great pedestal (kinda reminds me of Slick's).
I have nothing against Fosgates. In fact, I encourage it (so we can roast marshmellows)...mmmmmm...marshmellows.
So it looks like you are one step closer to "bling bling" with the neon?
Great job...and that is a very purdy engine.

Thank you. So far it sound's pretty good. makes for some heavy bass, though. Need to tune the thing out of the tent.

I dont particularly care for marshmallows, thank you. And for the record...the 1000.1 is cooled by a single 4" 45cfm fan, while the 400.4, (the heat generator) is cooled by two 4" fans. I hope they work.

Well, I wanted to do something different with it this time, and, at the time, neon seemed like a good idea. Whatever.

Thank you. I have to make up for the lackluster performance somehow, you know? :)

Yeah...those subs are going to make some waves. Did you install an equalizer? Where are they crossed over at?

How about hot dogs? Mmmmmmm....hot dogs.
Sounds like they should be nice and chilly.

All you kids these days are into the neon. The only neon I see is usually through double-vision in Vegas. Can I double down on your boat?

Well, no. The head unit has a EQ built in that seems to work pretty well, but as I said I need to tune the darn thing away from the "echo chamber" that its in right now.
I keep playing with the crossover frequency....I believe its around 75Hz, as of yesterday.....
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes, hot dogs are acceptable. And beer.
Yes, hot dogs and beer sounds good.:)

Kids? Yeah, my 19 year old daughter thinks it's pretty cool.
I guess it's an outlet for my deprived childhood.
Or my (as my wife implies) mid-life crisis.
Sandbagger.
Only at rummy.
Speaking of rum.....Mmmmmm... rum.....

I have an EQ that allows me to play with the crossover point, gains, and sub volume. I find myself fiddling with it depending on what 8-track I am listening to.
So I guess it's gonna depend on which rap CD you (born-again)kids are listening to these days...60-80hz is where I find myself at most of the time. It'll probably depend on the box, subs, and mid-bass too.

The head unit gives me lots of stuff to play with, sub level, bass crossover freq's, bass "Q" (dont know really what that does) mid level, mid crosover freq's, mid "Q", treble level, treble crossover freq's, too much.

Rap. phooey on that.

Close...give or take a decade and a half.

Polka music....hmmmmm, I'm inspired.
I'll keep my collection of Jimmy Buffett handy...just in case we dont get, shall we say, a warm reception.

Are you forbidden? or is it a physical thing....;)

Yes...you probably need a vacation from all the time you've spent in the boat. Have one for me.
I think we'll be out there May 15th or so...

Some other stuff that was going on over the winter.
I wanted as little wiring and periphials as possible to be seen, all the battery cable was replace with #2 gauge throughout, and was run behind all the panels
A shot of the Perko switch and Magnetic circuit breakers. Panel is 1/8" aluminum plate, polished. It's mounted on the back side of the seat base.
http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/500/398Boat_shots_036-med.jpg
The back side of the panel... The cables exit the bench on the right of the photo, then are routed under the floor, bundled in a nylon sleeve.....
http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/500/398Boat_shots_011-med.jpg
The cables exit the floor, through PVC fittings, between batteries 1 & 2 where they are routed to their proper locations.
http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/500/398Boat_shots_033-med.jpg
The end is a clean uncluttered area for the batteries. (the two cables seen have since been routed together....)

A new fuel fill tube was fabbed from stainless, it replaces the old black hose, and looks a little better as well. In the foreground of the picture is the aluminum frame that holds the Coleman stainless ice chest in place.:)

Can't you just make the hole smaller?

It sounds great! I havent had it out yet, thats next weekend, and I have only had it on inside the "tent" that its stored in, so I need to tune it when its out at the lake, but so far I am really pleased with the results. I do know that I can rattle the neighbors windows pretty badly though.....
This weekend gotta detail the thing, charge the batteries, and then off to Havasu!!!

That is some very clean looking rigging. Are you going to make it to the regatta next weekend? I'd like to see your boat, maybe pirate sum ideas.
I've got a 230 eagle also. If you can make it next weekend, the first round is on me. After five months of bustin your ass in the garage I'm sure you could use a frosty one.

Depends on where in LA you're coming from.
I used to live in whittier and it took about 5 hours to get there.
Worth the trip though, IMO.

The new the stereo looks good, and the soft night time lighting should help out the romance during a night time booze cruise....:D

Thank you. Yes, I did all the work on the project.
But, I owe many thanks to Roz, whom I bothered incessantly with many e-mails and phone calls throughout the process.

I know this thread is about your stereo install, but I have to say, that is one of the cleanest engine compartments I have ever seen. Your attention to detail is incredible. That diamond plate looks great. I hope you installed a miiror on your hatch. VERY NICE!!!

I finally have it finished, save for a small leak from the trim pump. I am very pleased with the result, it runs very well, I need more prop now:D
I have lots of photos of the end result, I'll see about getting a few more of them up.
