Does anybody know of a simple way to locate engine hatch cover gas springs? I hate to mess up the new interior panels. Gas spring 17.4 extended 10.2 compressed rated @ 50lbs

After over 100 readers it obvious my question was unclear. Maybe the picture will help. I'm trying to install gas springs and I need a little help with placement of the spring brackets.

77 elim, do you have any updated pics on that sweet ride. That boat is going to be killer when it's all done.

Looks like you dont want to use the hydraulics? If thats the case then you only want to use the shocks to hold the lid up, right? The current placement looks like it would only hold it up, and wouldnt help lift it like they will on some cars...
If you just want it to hold it up and not offer a lot of assistance while on the way up, I would do this: Mount it to the point close to where you think it would be in the drawing(on the cover), then lift the cover open to where you would like it to be when opened, place the other end of the shock(fully extended) wherever there is enough material to mount it too.-hopefully that makes sense...
Its not scientific, but it will work, as long as the shock is strong enough...
