Are polarized lenses in sunglasses any better than regular? Normally I don't wear any eyewear over $15 at the river since they don't float but a friend of mine has a hookup on Spy glasses cheap and I'm trying to figure out which pair to order.
the pair in question (http://www.spyoptic.com/the_products/fashion_sunglasses/index.cfm?ModelName=Fashion/Curtis)
Oh, and I already asked about the ***boat member discount and she told me not to push my luck:frown:

From what I've heard you'll see better in polarized lenses. Especially for fishin';)

Kills the glare off the water by a bunch. Well worth the $$ IMO.
What is this fishing thing of which you speak?

since my first pair of polarized shades, i havent had anything else. kinda cool while your driving to not see the reflection of the dash in the windshield or the glare off the road. also helps looking into water for the occasional lost ( insert lost part here )
Big 5 has the 15 dollar models too.

For fishing.....in that I'll be able to see the bottom? Cuz that might come in handy to check water depth when the sun is at that angle where you can't tell if it's 10' or 10"

Polorized are the only way to go!!! They cut out so much glare, when we were in the narrows at Naci (river - shallow) you see the bottom and the fish were swimming like crazy... the kids 7 & 10 had a harder time seeing the fish, we let them try our pol glasses and they couldn't believe how easy it was to see the fish.
So maybe that is the fishing thing :D  :D

With no glare much easier on your eyes too. Not squinting.
Don't skimp on the UV rating either.

Spend the extra bucks !! Polarized is the ONLY way to go IMO. You can "read" the river so much easier...my polarized shades have saved me hundreds in damaged props !!

I started wearing polarized lenses, about 8 years ago. That is all I will buy now. They really cut down on the glare and make it easier to see when driving into the sun.

Polarized, definitely worth the money. Your face is bombarded with direct sunlight and reflected rays off the water. Polarized glasses nearly eliminate the reflective glare. You end up seeing much better and having “Raccoon Eyes” :)

Great for fishing, as for the winter, I fish Santa Ana River Lakes for the big fish. I can see them swimming, and ususally get into the bite!:D

One of our local lakes has been taken over by Milfoil(?) a weed,
and I was pulling into a cove for some swimming and as I put my Polarized fit-overs on I was shocked to see about 1 foot underneath the surface NOTHING BUT WEEDS, I was in a jet boat so I backed out as fast as I could, get the kind with some side protection and get something to go around your neck(Floaties?) so the wind won't catch them if you look to the side at speed, mine were $24. at WalMart with a case.
