I am going to make this thread kinda vague as not to disclose the manufacturer nor the buyer of this boat. But my buddy needs some advise. My friend is purchasing a 27-29' cat with twin Scorpion motors with dual hydrolic steering and xr drives running 26 pitch 4 blade props, tunnel tab,. The boat is open bow and wieghs about 4,600-4,800 pounds. How fast should this boat be running.

The throttles should be at idle in no wake zones.

I'd say it should go as fast as the salesman said it would go so you've definitely got a good case there, Kid Mex.

Assuming 5100 RPM and a 1.5:1 gear ratio, about 75.3 MPH (http://www.boatpropellers.com/propcalc.html) :)

By using the calculator, and leaving the slip factor blank, it comes up with 10%

Dammit, I dropped the ball on that one. With thru hull exhaust add 8 mph. (4 mph per engine) :D :D

Depending on the amount of water circulating through the engine...;)

Not a pump boat so add another 8 or 10.

The hull manufacture matters alot but I would guess 75 to 90 depending.
I would only trust those speeds to a few builders though.

That is why I asked you guys for your opinion! If I were to trust a salesmans word I wouldn't be asking this question!
