Even personal hygiene costs have gone up. As discussed in the Wages thread, we al look for way to cut corners where we can.
Haricuts used to cost $10., then went up to $12.00, then $15 now they're $18.00 With my typical $2.00 tip there's $20.00.
A couple of Asian ladies bought the shop near my office. Now they advertize for $8.00.......Trying to be frugal in order to save money for gas and beer I decided that I should try it out.
Two guys in there...one getting a buzz, That can't be hard...
I get teh trim. OK so I see why its $8.00......luckily I know it will grow back, it always has before.....:D
And yes, she trimmed the eyebrows too....... :D
What do you guys pay for a haircut?

I do my own, so it's free. Gotta say I give myself a better flattop than anyone I have paid.
The girls love it, and the cops let me off with warnings; last month I was pulled over in Oklahoma doing 86 in a 70.

I use the Flobee. Secret is, you gotta have a good vacuum. Wife always knows when I'm cutting my hair. It's the only time I'll turn on the vacuum cleaner.:D

Local product originally. I had the opertunity to invest in that doo-hickey when it first was brought to market. One of my employees invested, made a few bucks and got to be part of the infomercial back then.....I LOVE MY FLOWBIE:D :D
.
I pay $20 to a Salon owner who has been cutting my hair for 15+ years. I get the massaging shampoo dealio from her, cut, gossip, blow dry and a hug from the pretty blonde when she's all done. I'd pay $20 just for the hug:D :D :D

Your haircut costs $18 and you're only giving her a $2 tip?! If you're not happy with the haircut you might want to rethink the amount of the tip :D

Everyone...come to mi casa.
My wife runs a salon out of the garage (of which I custom made thank you).
Men's shampoo, cut and style = $12
Women, you can have partial or full weaves, cuts, styles, color, mixes, for all diferent types of hair and needs.
And yes, I am pimpin' for the mrs. PM me if you live close and don't want to pay the high price of a trendy salon. I will even through in a cold one:D
Damn, for a teacher, I sound like a salesman :D

I pay $18 for the cut and $5 for the tip. I was only tipping $2 but then thought about it and realized that these girls primary income is tips. They pay the same amount of money for things that we do so might as well up the tip amount to something realistic.

I lost a Bet 9 Years ago in Havasu.. and had to Shave my Head.. Ever since then. I bought Clippers and cut it short every week or two.. I figure I have saved a ton of $$$.. I tried to grow it back a few times.. but it would like like Hell for a good month before it was long enough to not go every direction.. So I would just cut it again...

I used to pay about $35 each time for a hair cut, I have been going to the same lady for 10 years (she was $15 when I started). My lady works with her in the salon doing waxing and facials and all that stuff, so now I get the "family rate" - she hooks it up for free. I always bring something in for her though; food, starbucks gifts card, wine, something to show appreciation. I go in every three weeks, my hair grows like crazy.
By the way, if any ladies in the San Diego area need a good experienced person to do bikini waxing, send me a PM and I can get you in touch with my lady (Devra), she does really good work and has been doing skin care for over 10 years. Special discount to ***boat members. She has four bikini waxes to choose from:
Plane Jane
Pretty Kitty
Tiny Bikini
Bald Eagle

Works for me, leave the barber looking sharp and feeling even sharper.

I keep trying to talk Devra into bringing the wax pot to OP6 and give bikini waxes to the ladies. I offered to be "light boy" ... we'll see.
To answer your question, I used to get the hookup and not pay at all for a haircut, but then the cutter got preg. and took time off. So I started to go to someone else in the salon, she charges me $30 - her normal price for guys is $60. She is really good though - as you can tell
