What do you use to wash your boat down after you pull it out of the water? What takes the watter spots and water lines off but leaves the wax on.
Don't say 409.

Vinegar and water works ok, but probably take some of the wax with it being acidic and all, I guess it's all in how you mix it. I use it about 1/3 vinegar to 2/3 water.
I've used a product from Eagle One on my Motorcycle that looks like it would work well with the boat as well, it's called instant detail I think. Spray on, wipe off and voila, nice and shiny.
Vinegar and water is cheeper though. IMHO.

You use vinegar and water and you don't wash it off. You just spray it on and whipe her down?

Driven waxes has a new product that takes off the hard water spots, grease, scum, slime...and puts a thin coat of wax back on at the same time. I used it for the first time a few weeks ago and it worked pretty darn good. They use citrus oils to remove the gunk, as vinegar is acetic acid and removes the wax. I know they have a website. I'll see if I can find it.
Many folks here have also been using the new stuff by Waxing Frenzy with good reports.

It's like cheap dilute Windex. The Vinegar acts like a mild acid to disolve the water deposits, then it just goes away. The acidity will neutralize by itself pretty quick. Especially at 125 F j/k
We've used it for years and it seems to work well.

There is a guy on the boards who concocted and sells his own line of hull cleaner. RiverDave told me about it first but I've heard others praise it too. It's supposed to be the real deal. Perhaps someone will chime in with the contact info.
I don't use anything, of course, since the ice scrapes my hull clean each spring.

I always detail my boat with ULTRA-ION by Dri Wash 'n Guard before going to the lake. When pulling it out of the water, some drinking water on a towel takes the water spots off easily with little or no effort. The ULTRA-ION is easy to apply and keeps the surface smooth and protected.

We keep several bottles of vinegar and water around the condo for wipe downs and it does work really well in removing water spots and other light spotting (water scum, etc.). We've been using this combo for years and it doesn't seem to be too hard on the wax or shine.
However, I purchased some of the Waxing Frenzy spray wax from John at Attention to Detail a couple of weekends ago and used it to wipe down after two days on the lake. It worked extremely well in removing the water spots and also left a nice shine on the gel coat. I would highly recommend it.
Also, I had a heavier-than-usual build-up of exhaust residue on the transom this weekend and I found that their Shark Tower product quickly removed the residue and left a nice coat of wax on the transom and swim step. By the way, I couldn't get the residue completely off with the usual vinegar and water combo.
Going to give the whole boat a coat of wax this coming weekend with Waxing Frenzy, so I will let you know how it turns out. I do know that you can use it in full sunlight and during the heat of the day (tested it on a section of the boat at the sandbar); but, I did find I was chewing through a lot of wax.
By the way, John (Warlock 25) and his wife are lovely people and great to do business with.

You're supposed to get the water spots off? I'm gonna have to have a talk with the wife when she gets home! Seriously, if it weren't for the water spots, the only character my boat would have is the one sittin' at the wheel!:p

Vinegar, Water with about 3-5% Carnuba Liquid Wax (Wax Shop Brand) poured in....got that tip from Havasu Cig....shake it before before spraying....works like tits and a lot less than most of the other good stuff...
After that, if I feel like spot waxing, I will use Gel Gloss ($5 at Home Depot) or the Wax Shop liquid wax...both work great from from what I have seen...
For the interior, ZEP vinyl cleaner.....cleans and protects....great stuff...

I wipe it down w? a chamois and wash it once I get home. I picked up some stuff form REX last time I was there that was supposed to work like Ducky but it doesnt eat the wax. I will try it one of these days when I get the motor together.

Most of the premix stuff costs a fortune when you go through almost a full bottle every trip. I mix my own. A squirt of liquid boat soap from West (or wherever), a squirt of liquid wax, rest water in a spray bottle. Works great and leaves a nice shine, never have to wax separately. For stubborn spots I keep a bottle of West Marine spot remover handy. For really stubborn spots I use the West hull cleaner, then respray with the wax mist. Works for me... Really looking forward to the kids being old enough to enslave for boat cleaning duty.
