I guess they're a little tight on space. We need a little HH compression on the forum database.

It's a Merc 2.5 liter flywheel.
My buddy TUG had a flywheel lightened. It would seem that it wasn't balanced after being lightened, despite being done by a reputable firm, and he believes it grenaded his engine. The guy who did the lightening doesn't believe they need to be balanced after lightening, as long as they start in balance, and is quite belligerent about it.
I don't have too many facts so I don't want to name the guy who lightened the flywheel but it seems pretty clear what happened from descriptions from two extremely high quality and trustworthy people who saw it. The flywheel was balanced since and has been trouble free on the new engine.
It's just a little show of support for a buddy. Also, it bugs the guy who did the lightening. :D
