Ehrenberg turn off all the way, no hills, less komakazi pilots on the road. But I miss the shoe tree, Would someone please start another.

I always go Rice Road, but I always head out early Saturday morning, so there's almost no traffic, even Sundays between 4 and 6pm it's not bad. I've heard AZ 95 is an easy road, but is patrolled more heavily. I went the 15 to the 40 to Havasu once and burned an enormous amount of gas going through Devore and had to top off in Barstow to ease my doubts of "will I make it to AZ 95?"

I40 to AZ95. Of course I'm on the north end of L.A. County to begin with.

Desert center to rice road is faster but more dangerous. I have seen many accidents on that road but I still drive it (except for big weekends) Then I go through ehrenberg.

Rice Rd always, just watch for the bears 10 miles off interstate 10
& 10 miles out of Parker
They give you 80
Anything over 80 & you're looking at a ticket

Desert Center/Rice Rd. When we go, we want to get there asap. We are carefull, and are not towing. If we were towing, I think I would go the Ehrenburg way.

They don't give you 80 if your pulling a boat. They wrote me a ticket last year for 72 pulling the boat. I keep it between 60 & 65 now pulling the boat.

I like to mix it up...a little variety never hurt anyone. More often then not I take rice road on the way home but on the way there i mix it up between the 40 and rice road. the 40 is actually shorter form my house but the traffic can be terrible sometimes. Depends on what time we leave and my mood.

I like the drive through parker on the way home. That way you get to see other people boating and you can wonder why you didn't take Monday off. :D Of course on Monday you would be wondering why you didn't take Tuesday off.:D

Rice road can be a real biatch on the boat & trailer!!! I have had to repair 2 trailers as a result of all the abuse from that road not to mention fixing carburators on the launch ramp the next morning!:frown: I have learned to appreciate good ol blyth road through beautiful downtown Erenburg...

Rice is 8 miles shorter then Ehrenberg. We mix it up, if I want to watch a movie it's Ehrenberg. A shi* load more bugs to wash off through the farm land. "but safer".

Why do you go through EHRENBERG instead of up the AZ95 through Quartzsite

80 with no boat, 68 max with a boat. The bears hate speeding boaters. Leave your boat in Havasu @ my house (with keys*)

Going I-10 to Quartzsite and up AZ 95 adds almost 30 miles to the trip.
Speed limit on Indian 1 (Mohave Road through the Res) is 55, and the limit in the town of Ehrenberg is 35.
You can push it a little on Mohave Road (65), but don't be obvious about it. I had a guy on Monday going down there nearly 80, passing everything in sight. I couldn't let that go by. $185.00 ticket. And watch for the reduction to 35 going into Poston. The Tribal Police have a major speed trap there, and it creeps up on you.
DO NOT speed through Ehrenberg. The signs say 35 and WE MEAN 35!

From Huntington Beach we always go to Desert Center and use Rice Road. It is safe as long as you are going with the traffic. I set the cruise a little under 80 and have beek ok for many years.

Thanks boatcop, Don't need a speeding ticket.
gas prices are helping to reduce my speed also....

I use Rice Road during off peak hours, set the cruise at 78 and let it ride.

I love getting off I-10 at Dessert Center and heading out on Rice Road....feels like you're almost to Parker/Havasu. It's a nice, wide, well paved 2 lane road.....only dangerous when the fools pass over the double yellow.
I'll be there tomorrow morning.....

Last trip out, the guy in front of me got pulled over on Rice Road and we were going 78. I don't think 80 is a "GIMME".
2 trips ago, I got a ticket on Tribal Land on the AZ 95 N of Parker for doing 71 in a 55. $150 :( I was not towing a boat either.

Spute,
I leave from Huntington and go out the 91 to the 60 to the 10 and exit desert center and go out Rice Road. Way better than I-40.

We basically go that way, but take the 91 to the 10 and out. That 60 sucks, and at best knocks very little time off your trip. On the other hand when it sucks, it sure can add time, and the transition from the 91 to the 60 always sucks.

If there is any traffic, I go the 57, 60, 10, Desert Center on the way out. On the way back Desert Center, 10, 15, 91 or 60 (depending on time of day/night). Coming back the 60 sucks through Burrito Valley!! :D

This is correct too. Basically, if you are leaving early or way late, then go 91 to the 10 then out there.

If you leave early on Saturday morning, there's no traffic, and no Friday night knuckleheads trying to pass over the double yellow lines. Plus there's one less night to pay for :D. Unless you've got a place to stay, but still the Saturday AM drive is a brezze.
