Took a drive tonite and several of the local roads are closed due to flooding. For those that boat at Hogan, here is what the ramps and campsites look like...

Actually the last couple of years they kept it in the lake. Almost TOO much, but I'm not complaining. Its much nicer with the water higher in Mid summer. :rollside: Comanche is at FULL capacity, Lake Pardee is over the dam and the Calaveras and Mokelumne Rivers are extremely high and over the banks in some places.

As of 4-5-2006, they were releasing 11,000 CFS ( Cubic Feet Per Second ) from Friant Dam, Millerton Lake on the San Joaquin River.
Thats a lot of water flowing out to the pacific ocean via the San Francisco Bay.
I hope the enviromentalist are happy now. They now have the natural flow restored.

Whats the latest T?
K-Flat I left a message on Traci's cell right after I posted this. No response yet...On the 6pm news they talked about lots of other flooding areas and a couple of levee problems down towards Merced, but never again mentioned Valley Springs.
Calaveras County's website has a press release on it, so I wasn't hearing things.
I'll post up if they call...if we don't hear something by mid-morning, I may just head on down there. Done this evac thing before and it ain't fun.
-End-
Thanks for the prayers and concern and we are ok. My phone at home isn't working and my cell does not get service for those of you who have left me messages, I'll try and call you back as soon as I can. SOAKED but ok. Creek and pond behind the house has overflowed and rising very fast. Valley Springs is still under a voluntary evac and many many houses went under. Little Bart, Brady and several of the boys were out last night trying to help save a few but lost the fight to the water. Its higher than anyone has ever seen it here and caught us by surprise. Road were closed at Hwy26 in town and they were routing people out around the lake until they ended up closing that as well. These pics were as of 7pm last night.
PLEASE Pray the rain stops soon as we need a break and many many more homes are at risk including mine if the water comes any higher out back. From Monday night when I posted pics of the lake and last night the water has come up at LEAST 10 feet. Very very fast and quite scary.
This the loop at the sites where he had the Cliff Run last year. You can see how much and how quickly it has come up from my previous pics of Monday eve.

Sorry this isn't very clear but those of you who know where Coyote Point it (otherwise known as the BoyScout area)... the white dot you can barely make out is the very top of the BBQ Gazebo out there on the point. The point is completely under.

Another friend of ours house. The force of the water was so strong flowing into his house he had to open up his back door and let it all run through. He was on the news last night, they have major damage and there was nothing we could do to stop it.

Kudo's to these guys who were very very nice and showed alot of compassion to those that had to go to the shelter in town and those of us preparing for more of this crap.......

I didnt go to work today as Im going to try and clean up some of the mess from the damages yesterday while we have a bit of a break. Its only sprinkling today and the sun is out but they say we are in for at least 7 more days of this. They are extremely concerned about Dam failure and have evacuated about 300 homes and have an engineer out there now assessing the situation.

Holy Crap! That's insane. We're in Elk Grove and boat at Hogan quite frequently. The place is so distorted in your pics that I don'e even recognize many of them and we've been to Hogan a thousand times....usually staying overnight at Coyote Point.....I assume that is completely under water? Crazy! So what's this about dam concerns? Are you talking the dam at Hogan? Comanche? Both? Might want to grab your valuables and get them to safe ground. I do have a large storage unit for the boat in Galt at Pringle Rd. & Hwy99. Quite a bit of room in there with it being 32x13 and only a 24' boat & trailer in there. If you need a dry place to put some stuff I'd be willing to help you out. PM me if you're interested in putting some stuff in there until this blows through. Good luck out there and don't take any unnecessary risks.

WOW!! I'm glad to hear you guys are safe! I saw some of the pics on the news last night and then again this morning.
We've been dealing with the floods here in Sonoma since the first of the year and it sucks big time. People are finally getting some help since it was declared to be in a state of emergency. FEMA has been pretty quick to respond to the disaster victims although the paperwork better be filled out perfectly.
Be safe over there!

MOBrian, appreciate the offer. I am on the North side of town, about 2 miles from the lake toward Jackson and a bit higher than those in town and below the lake. I have a nasty river that is normally a dry creek raging about 30 feet from the back door and that is my concern right now. Sandbags wont do anything if that hits, the force of the water flowing through this town is unbelievable. My neice and her family are directly below the dam in Rancho Calaveras/La Contenta and they left last night. Yes, that is in fact Coyote Point and it is completely under except for the very top of the metal shade structure out there. Thats probably under by now. I drove over the Comanche Bridge yesterday and it was high of course, but I am not aware of any flooding in that area. I hope not as T-Bag and Lulu are over in that area.
The dam info is here..I havent made it town yet this morning but when I do I will take my camera and get some pics if the roads are back open.
AT 530 AM PDT AN EARTHEN DAM AT LA CONTENTA GOLF COURSE SOUTH OF
VALLEY SPRINGS WAS THREATENING TO FAIL. THE GOLF COURSE IS LOCATED
ALONG HIGHWAY 26. THE DAM IS LOCATED UNDER VISTA DEL LAGO CREEK
BRIDGE. MANDATORY EVACUATIONS HAVE BEEN ORDERED. THE DAM IS ABOUT 12
FEET HIGH AND CONTAINS ABOUT 300 ACRE FEET OF WATER. IF THE DAM
FAILS IT WILL SEND WATER TO A SECOND POND DIRECTLY BELOW THE
DAM. FROM THERE...WATER WOULD RUN INTO THE CALAVERAS RIVER.
ABOUT 400 RESIDENCES ARE THREATENED. ENGINEERS HAVE DETERMINED THAT DAM FAILURE IS VERY LIKELY. THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR THIS AREA WILL CONTINUE.
* ANY FLASH FLOODING WILL BE CONFINED TO THIS SPECIFIC AREA.

Is this one of the dams that holds water on the golf course ponds? I've played La Contenta many times and can certainly see it being a problem....yikes. Well, let me know if you guys need some assistance. And geeeezzzzz, the shade structure at Coyote is under? This is nuts!
Stay safe out there.
