Probably the greatest president we've ever had. My sadness is bittersweet in that I'm sorry that he had to suffer for a decade. I'm glad that I was around for his eight years in office. Those were great times in this country.

I was just talking about him on tuesday and quizing my students on some history that involved presidents even though I'm not a history teacher. I had a few students mention how could we let an actor like Arnold be in control of our state. They had no idea who Regan was and what his background was and what he was able to accomplish for our country, so I had to school them a little bit. We got to talking about the assasination attempt that they knew nothing of and the Iran Contra Affair. This stuff isn't in school history books anymore. It was all over my books in High School and middle school. I can only hope that I can live to see close to 93 years of life, and I'm glad he doesn't have to suffer anymore, rest in peace Mr. Reagan.

I voted for him both times. I wish we had more leaders like Ronald Reagan, he was a true visionary. And he was great at communicating with the people.
He had a plan, told the people about his plan, he worked his plan with the other politicians of the time, and delivered on what he promised. Kind of a refreshing change from the Clinton..."what do the poles say today, dear" method of "leadership".
Lots of people forget or were too young to know at the time of the 1980 election that the economy was a virtual train wreck. Interest rates for mortgages were over 17%... just imagine what that would do in todays housing market.
I bought my first house in northern california in 1981. My interest rate was "bought down" by the builder to 13.5%... I will never forget those times.
Ronald Reagan fixed that problem and the economy took off after that. It took a short recession during bush 1 and then roared back in the 90s. I do not credit Clinton for that period of prosperity, rather I think it was a continuation of the mid 80s recovery.
Thank you Ronald Reagan for your years of public service and your visionary leadership.
You will be in my heart always...

That has to be the understatement of the century. RR did more for freedom than anyone in my lifetime before or since. Some called him a war monger yet through the use of deterrent force he did more encourage disarmament and control the arms race of the cold war than anyone. The world is very fortunate to have had him leading the US during this critical period. When he left office it was the one time in my life I wished we didn't have term limits. He will be missed. :frown:

I do a little business in the aera of the R R library, it makes me proud to tour it. Another thing he left is the new bad ass navy aircraft carrier. even though we don't need it you have the USAF watching over you - pilgram.

I consider him the greatest president of the 20th century and arguably the best ever. George Washington was pretty good too. What can you say about a man who ended communism abroad while taking our nation to new economic highs. He never swayed from his beliefs, and his leadership was so strong that his message cut through the democratic rhetoric and energized our nation. He's the last president I've REALLY been proud of. God Bless him and his family. He's in a better place now.

I drove by the Reagan Library near my home late last night and the police were letting people park along Madera rd, and place flowers at the entrance.
The library is closed.
Quite a crowd out front; candles, flowers, homemade cards ect.
Anyone who didn't like RR should remember how bad this country felt about itself the 4 years prior to him taking office.
Then when he unpacked his saddlebags at the White House our Country took a 180 deg turn for the best.
One of the few polititians that didn't change his take on issues to be popular.
Teriffic sense of humor. His best line was about Clinton: "Don't Inhale".
He'll lie in state at the library (I believe) until Tuesday, then to DC, then back to the library for on site burial.

Actor Danny Glover: "We all know Reagan's legacy, from the Iran-Contra affair to the funding of the Nicaraguan military in which over 200,000 people died. The groundwork for the move steadily to the right happened with the Reagan administration. People want to elevate him to some mythic level; they have their own reason for doing that."

What would you expect from a Left wing, communist, socialist, racist jackass.

Definitely one of the last of a small group of politicians who do the right thing instead of what polls say. He was a true hero for this country and someone that kids can look up to and aspire to emulate.
Even though Nancy is not his first wife she is his true love and I think Schwarzchkof(sp) said it yesterday, "the end of a love story":frown: :( :(

I have no respect for anyone who would make comments like Glover did. Ronald Reagan had greatness, Danny Glover is a petty idiot.
Ronald Reagan spoke from the heart, believed in our country and its people, and held to the core belief that we are a great nation because of our devotion to the rights of man. Although commited to his beliefs, he never hesitated to laugh at a good joke, even if it was at his own expense. The record shows that he was the driving force in many of the big decisions made, yet was always willing to give others the credit.
Even those politicians around the world who felt the sting of his convictions, have expressed praise for his skill as an adversary. He showed us that the world does not respect a leader that waffles or is afraid to make tough decisions. Jimmy Carter wrung his hands for years over the Iran hostages, only to see them released when the terrorists realized that there would be no 'limited' engagements to release them.

Ronald Reagan was optomistic and positive.
Danny Glover is negative and sarcastic.
Danny Glover has earned a place right next to Michael Moore in my view. People like him would do better just keeping their mouths shut. But this is America and he can spew whatever Commie BS he wants to... but he has talked himself out of any respectability IMO...

I remember Ronald Reagan as the person that saved this country from ruination. After Watergate and four years of President Carter, he put PRIDE back into being American. He changed the World and my heart forever.
May God bless the Reagan family.
Thank you Mr. President!

Regan, ended the cold war without firing a shot and brought freedom to millions. That is his true legacy. We should never forget that.
God Bless.
FYI Glover is a true big mouth left wing political activist, he is always at anti-war rallies etc. in Frisco. Complete political nonsense.
