I have been on my same two batteries for the last two seasons AND they are the same two that came with the boat when i bought it. Lord knows how old they are.....

If they work and you are having no problems why change them?
I don't want to find out the hard way that they are out of juice!! I did need a jump once last summer.

I had two blue tops go BAD! (Separate incidents)
I ditched them for another option that has been working fine.

That happened to me last summer...Boat was tied up at the beach...next morning..nada! I would do it prior to getting in a jam.

Just put in two Group 27's from American Battery, cost about half what the Blue Tops cost, not sure if the Optimas are better but two batteries for the price of one???

I just bought 2 new group 24 costco/kirkland marine deep cycles @46 bucks each.
OK, their not Optimas but for the money if I hate them I'll just return em.

Maybe he wants them to match.
Optima is definitely the way to go. I swapped out the 6 volt batteries in my golf cart for a single blue top optima and now it pulls 11 second quarter miles.

i hear u but its going to be a bitch to find out you hate them in the middle of mohave and your sweetie wants to be naughty so you go in the back of some cove, pop open some beers, play a lil music, take a little dip, and whatever else and after that great afternoon you find out your shiat wont work.

For 49 bucks I always carry a coleman waterproof jumpstart system. It looks like a yellow lunchbox, its the chit for carrying on board should anyone have a problem. I'd have a backup even if I was running Optima's. :)
