We were floating from the Parker Dam talking with the boatcops when a 4 seat flatbottom approached us trying to run down a PWC at furious speed.
Both went between us and the boatcops, and zig - zag'd towards the dam the boat driver trying to annihilate the pwc, his passengers throwing beers at the pwc as well.
We had kids in the water hanging onto the Sheriffs boat and them swimming back to ours,, they could have easily taken one of the kids out.
They didn't even notice all the boatcops they were soo pissed off and drunk.
The boat cops broke it all up, stopped them all,, they all blew their shoe size, all got hooked up and the boat and pwc were impounded.
I have one of the kids drive the boat,, or someone not drinking.
BWI is the same as a DUI in the car I'm told by the LEOS.
They've seen some ugly BWI incidences,, so don't expect a pass or a break from them.
Life ending in my book,, no reconsilliation,, no traffic school,, ya get a BWI,, you're screwed with your car & boat insurance, if the wreck was not your fault it will be if ya blow positive, the DMV is a seperate battle all it's own,, it sux deluxe.
Not worth it.
I'm dizzy enough circling back to pick up a down'd wakeboarder and trying to get between me and the approaching traffic to protect the person in the water,, one drink in me and that would throw safety overboard.

I got so many I'd use up all the bandwidth if I told them all.
So I'll just give you a few:
1) 9:30 PM, PWC northbound on the Strip from Roadrunner, trying to get back home at Holiday Harbor. Impacts the cliff at River Island going about 45 MPH.
Broken pelvis, facial injuries, broken nose, .215% BAC.
2) January 1, 2000, 12:40 AM. Drunk #1 .10%, 45+ MPH northbound from the Casino. Drunk #2 .22%, about 15 MPH southbound toward the Casino. Head-on collision. Drunk #1 goes completely over #2, sinking it and killing drunk #2 and wife instantly.
3) July 5th 1995. PWC leaves Roadrunner at 1:20 AM for Emerald Cove. Overshoots the camp, and turns around back toward it. Head-on into daycruiser heading south. PWC operator (.16%) dies instantly on impact. Daycruiser was .00%.
4) Oldie... Labor Day weekend 1979. V drive daycruiser runs over some folks in a small family tri-hull. Stops and sees what he did, and hauls ass for camp, trailers the boat and splits. Victim writes the CF number on the hull of the boat with his own blood before he dies. CHP catches the guy at Vidal Junction. .17% BAC.
Getting to see a pattern yet?
I think insurance rates would be the last thing I'd be worrying about.

WOW. My Grandfather was the one that went to the scene and pulled the injured from the water. He had just put new shag carpet in the Campbell. Blood ruined the carpet. He transported them to Windsor. I believe one guy lost his leg. My Grandfather testified in court about the ordeal.
Ever hear anymore about it? He didnt say much about it except about what you mentioned and that it was a horrific scene.
Here he is in all his glory. The last wooden hull Campbell made.
