wheres the best place to launch in needles(would be nice if it was a protected ramp)? and how is the depth of the river between topock restuarant and and needles?

Needles Marina is still ok this time of year. It's protected and deep enough in the center. Just hug the buoy when leaving the marina.
The water level is fine between Needles Marina and the lake. I wouldn't recommend going north unless you know the river.
As you're coming up on the Topock I-40 bridge, stay in the middle. Stay away from the Ca shoreline.
Hope this helps.

also is there a good place to stay on the weekend in needles, that we could still get reservations for next weekend now?

all the way north the cal side is much shallower. if you go north of needles bridge and see a sandbar on your left the water level is still down. staying to AZ side will always be deeper. middle of river isn't the deepest part up here. usually up by noon to 2 pm. when I was learning this area of the river I followed a few "wackers" figuring if they made it my jet would to and asking the other locals about trouble spots.

We did this to our prop above the Needles bridge on a Thursday between 10 and 11 am. The water is find from the bridge down to topock.
Park Moabi has a launch ramp that is kinda funky with lane dividers halfway down. The long hot channel from the ramp to the river is long and hot and shallow to the left (as you go out)So stay to the right.
Have fun!

You will be fine, the water is nice, you can see all the vacant Indian Land and Park Moabi on you way to Topock Marina.;)
Topoc Marina is on the left as you go down river just before the 40 bridge.;)

There's 2 Best Westerns in town. Their website has the info.
If you want something nicer...20 minutes north is Avi Resort and Casino (don't launch your 28' there though).

DO NOT
DO NOT
DO NOT GO TO THAT HOTEL/MOTEL
It is gross and they have roaches and they when you launch in the morning you will hit your prop!
(well it happened to us, a few years ago)
I see they have RV sites there, those probably don't have roaches.....;)

Why do you think lunchwaggons are called "Roach Coaches"? Sure those little bastards can climb right up in there!

Middle of the river, around 11am Thursday, as for where, all I can say is above the Needles bridge, I don't know any landmarks up there......(not going there again);)

Just went to the Needles bridge today to do a little floating. It was real hot today but the water was nice. We use to stay at the Travlers Inn off of J street. We always were able to get a room. Our friends stayed there memorial weekend and had a good time. Launch at Needles marina It's by the golf course. Jack smiths is another launch, south of the golf course, but watch the water level at both places it does get looowww. Don't expect much for dining in town. The hotel has good security you can park in the parking lot without any hassle's. On the river don't go past the needles bridge, the white one to the north. It gets real trickey past the bridge if your not carfull, big trouble. Down river no problem all the way to Havasu.
