I'm going to be buying a new ride soon...I think. It will either be the 1500 Crew Cab (Chevy or GMC) or the 2500HD Crew Cab (Chevy or GMC). Just depends on the moola and the deal I can get--I really want one of the Duramax's, but we will see.
Anyways...to my point, please post pics of your HD or 1500 Crew trucks. If I get an HD, I will probably lift it 6" with 18's and 35's. If I get the 1500 Crew 2wd, I will just put 20's on it and be done.
Post pics and info of your ride.
Thanks,
Roln 20s
PS- Tobtek, I posted a pic of yours, but I forgot the lift/wheel and tire combo you had??

thanks SCO, It looks great! Right now, that may be the way for me to go-18" wheels. One reason is because it must fit in my garage, standard height, so that will probably restrict any big lifts.

Firewater--bad ass setup. If I can squeeze that (height wise in my garage), then thats my next ride. Its awesome.
Kindsvater Flat--Isn't that the truth. The rebates and discounts advertised now are unbelieveable. The HD Crew Cab 4x4 with the 6.0, auto, towing, LS package, all the necessary stuff is only 25K new right now at numerous dealers in Phx. That's just awesome.
MMD- how do you like that 8.1? I hear its really gas happy? You know how sweet a Howard Bullet would look behind your ride:) :D
Thanks for all the responses.

You really want the 3/4 ton, especially if u put big tires on it. The big tires really reduce your towing ability. Also, you want to get the lowest rear end u can.....4.10 is the best for big tires and towing.
Good luck!!

I sold it to a guy in Oceanside. That truck was probably one of the best lifted trucks around. California Super Trucks in San Berdo did the lift and the used the Full Throttle drop down bracket's with their own custom upper a-arms. The truck in the pic had 38's but would fit 39.5's and drove better than stock. Not to mention when it rained the tires would spin into 3rd gear.

The Dodge cab flew 200ft through the air, driver was black & blue w/no serious injuries, passenger was ejected suffering only cuts & scrapes. My wife was driving our truck and was black & blue but could have walked away. My son was in the back seat and was unhurt.
This truck did it's job and protected my family. Any less of a vehicle and the outcome would have been a lot different. I posted these to show that the 2500HD is built like a tank. Our truck took a very hard hit in the front but all the doors still opened, the cab never flexed and the bed never hit the cab, even with a heavy shell on the back.

Mine just turned 50K.
All leather, and I blindly ordered the bench front seat.
I'm glad I did, it's excellent, and I can carry an extra person. You can hardly tell it from the bucket seats.
We use it exclusively for runs to Parker and the dunes.
I like the 3" factory lift that it comes with.
The largest tires you can run stock are the Goodrich 285's.
The Allison trans is awsum, the 8.1 gas engine teriffic.
Only problems:
fuel pump check valve
Corroded battery cable.
I easily tow a 9000 lb 32' slide out trailer w/ two quads
or a 5500 lb wakeboard boat/trailer.
Tows awsum.

Uh, I would take the challenge, but some silver bullets would have to be the prize. Actually, I dont think I would even attempt it on a launch ramp, wouldnt do that to my fellow boaters, but may just have to try how far I could get on flat ground. Dont think it would be very far.

You'd know you had the boat in the water too far when you saw the 5th wheel start to float :D
