Had a couple of impellers and wear rings turned back in my jet boat days, Don is supposed to be one of the best around. Does all the work for one of the local racers here. I can give you a couple of numbers of guys to talk to if you want more info. Been in the business a long time.
Don did the pump in my stocker. One of his "blue print" jobs. My barge runs 58 on gps with an A impeller, a stock 455 Olds with, stock cam, iron intake and so on. It does so because of the pump work done by Don's. My scow even though slow in comparison to the hotrods around here comes out of the hole strong and is tight on the top end for what it is as a stock jet. Compare also to some of the hopped up little stripped down Olds powered boats around here that barely break 55.
Don is also a very nice guy and will talk to you about anything you want to know about the jets. On the race side, the guy has a solid rep. Seems like everybody out here knows of him in the jet circles and has had work done by him. I think you will be happy with his work.
I'VE NOT YET DONE BUSINESS WITH HIM, BUT I AGREE HE LISTENS TO QUESTIONS AND REALLY ANSWERS THEM WITH A LOT OF FACTS. LAST YEAR HE VOLUNTEERED TO GIVE ME A PART TO TRY TO SEE HOW IT WORKED BRFORE IT PAID FOR IT! BESIDES THAT HE IS ON THE EAST COAST. THAT'S THE PART I LIKE!...BILL.

Back Forty, what kind of Rpm s were you turning with that 58? I'm just trying to gain some #'s here. I [was] 55 gps with a low buck 455. I'm pretty sure the pump was "loose as a goose" and cavitated on take off big time. I ran that 55 @ 4800-4900 rpm.
I just bought one of his inducers it looks nicely casted, and never heard any thing bad about him.

I bought some small parts (seals & gaskets) from him back in July.
As mentioned, great to talk to, patient and a wealth of info.
Shipped my stuff quickly too.

Wet Dream, that 58mph was at 4400 rpms. The Q jet is from a '78 Cad 425. The original Q jet had been lost to a dumass holley. Also I am running a stocker HEI in place of the points distributor. Otherwise, this is a full Berkley Packajet package including manifolds, automotive waterpump and so on..

One thing I have noticed is that if I go from an Idle to full throttle as in "hitting it," The rpms will flash to 4500 and creep down to 4400 about a second or so later but the little run-about stands up and is on plane fast.
Also built a spacer to run one of the tall flame arrestors on the Q jet. Notice the large amount of Plywood... The engine cover must weigh almost a hundred pounds:rolleyes:
