This whole board cracks me up sometimes. I have never heard so much product bashing in my entire life. I met with a builder recently and asked him what's up with this industry and why does everyone try to steal and piss each other off so much? He didn't really have a clear answer other than to say it's always been like that. He told me he lurks here from time to time but is put off by all the bickering, bitching, and overall 12 yr old girl like fighting. It's too bad because he knows his shit (world record hulls).

Maybe you havent taken notice, but the whole HTM board came on to say they dont need to bash others and that the HTM bashers should get there information correct before opening their mouths. Our point of this board is to get correct and accurate information to people interested in HTM and for the HTM owners to chat to one another. The positive imput by the HTM people stopped the crap talk . Have A nice day!

Ker-smack...ouch. Quite a retort. I am a big fan of the HTM's and the folks at the factory. Incidentally, my point is to pass along this pic that I found on www.racephotos.com. (http://www.racephotos.com.) It appears to be an SR-24. Don't know if it has been doctored or not. It would make a great "what not to do in an HTM" ad. The link is: http://www.racephotos.com/PI/P05.jpg

Ease up there Queen of the HTM's I don't want to be the one to break it to you, but
A. He's been here a hell of a lot longer then any of the HTM guys..
B. He just pointed out something about the Boat Industry in general not necesarrily about HTM's.
C. You gotta lighten up a little bit! Calm that "edge" down before you hurt somebodies feelings. http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif
If anything if you read his posts the main point of it was in fact the same point your trying to make.
Why do people Bash products without first hand knowledge?
I did my HTM bashing a while ago, AND IT WAS FROM PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE.. The first two I rode in were the equivalent of Hammered dog sh*t.. However I'm an open minded person and went for a few more rides a year or two later, and they were pretty nice! Hence why I asked HTM Racing if they changed something about the boats. Which they responded that they did.... Perhaps alot of people had similar experiences as mine, which is a tough reputation for a manufacturer to overcome. If you would have asked me 6 months ago if I would've purchased an HTM I would've said something like you couldn't pay me too. If you'd ask me now... I still say no but that becuase of personal issues not becuase of the performance or quality of the boat. (Just not my cup of tea, besides I can't see spending that much money on an HTM when almost any 21-22' Cat with twin o/b's is half the price and will blow the doors off an HTM that costs the same amount http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif)

C.EXCUSE THE EDGE. JUST KIND OF GETTING TIRED OF THE NEGATIVE. DONT WANT TO HURT ANY FEELINGS. THANKS FOR THE INSIGHT.
D.IM GLAD YOU KEPT AN OPEN MIND AND TRIED THE HTM AGAIN. ITS TOTALLY COOL. IF THEY DONT DO IT FOR YOU THATS OK,AND GREAT THAT YOU SAY THE WAY IT HAPPENED. AS FAR AS BLOW THE DOORS OFF THE HTM. WE ALL KNOW A BOAT IS A MATTER OF PERSONAL PREFERANCE AND THE HTM WORKS FOR SOME AND NOT OTHERS.
E. SHARE MORE INFORMATION ON THE BOARD,IF YOU DONT MIND?

With a pair of 300-hp Mercury outboards, Dave's Custom Boats' Mach 22 has the speed to blow away just about anything.
Guys who own boats with roaring supercharged or twin turbocharged big-blocks don't take kindly to getting passed by speedsters with screaming outboards.
If the outboards happen to be twin Mercury Hi-Performance 2.5 Drag SS motors and they're bolted to the transom of a Dave's Custom Boats Mach 22, those big-block guys won't have much choice except to go down valiantly in defeat. The Mach 22, you see, was the fastest boat at our little shindig, wringing
down the Parker strip section of the Colorado River at 124.2 mph on Stalker radar. That's six mph faster than the closest blown big-block-powered boat in our fleet.
Price as Tested
$77,605

Your right about the apples to apples thing, it's really not a fair comparison, but none the less it is true.
1/2 price more speed.
Rolls Royce though? C'mon now bud, Have you ever heard or Rolls Royce on a message board because someone was "Bashing" there product?

RD that sounds great 124.2 with 2 factory race outborads ,what happend to a stock deal, how long did it take to get to 124ish ,there is a lot of variables HP TO LBs
at castaic last sat we blastad on GPS WITH ONLY ONE OF THOSE ROARING SUPERCHARGED MOTORS A 137MPH @only 6300 rpm still had engine but no more lake did not even see an outboard boat (TOTAL COST OF THIS BOAT IS $90,000.00 ish) LETS SEE$ 90,00.00-$77,600.00 =not exactley 1/2 LETS C $12,400(P.S.RD i used to race outboard class and i love them, owned 3 outboard boats, still have 1 for sale, outboard boats tend to be much lighter ,because the typicaly do not have the torque ,real weight sensitive.a H T M is a large 24FT not exactly light boat,i will bet that 22 dcb is about 1000lb lighter?RD what type of boat do u own .cant wait 2 take u for a test ride. talk 2 u later.

Mr.Pump, I'm just messin with ya... don't get all upset. Your right the DCB is fairly pricey with twins at 74K...
How about a 21' Liberator with Twins right around 50K (just about 1/2 price) and that will be right at the 120mph in the 1/4 mile! http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif (Not full blown race motors either I might add, just a couple of 2.5's "slightly modified")

mrpumps HTM, You have one impressive HTM. 137mph and still climbing...WOW. If you don't mind, I would like to know some more about your HTM. Specifically,
1. You cubic inch
2. Blower size, max boost and overdrive %
3. Hyd. or solid cam, profile if you have it
4. type of heads
5. how much HP
6. type of outdrive
7. Prop pitch and gear ratio
8. Ever calculated your slip %
It seems to me that you could reset the unofficial single engine cat speed record of 143mph, which was set by an HTM. What do you think?
I would love to blast down the river side by side with you at 100+ sometime.
See Ya.

Hold on bud.. gotta do some research.. (Papa always said, don't argue a point without the facts!)
"BIG SUCKER MARINE TOLD ME" (Actual HTM Dealer.)
90 MPH - Carbuerated 565 - 625 hp low 90's = 73,750$$ motor, 18K upgrade Which by the way puts the base motor package in my mind at a WHOPPING TOTAL OF 55,750 for a baseline HTM.. (Pretty Damed Expensive if you ask me..)
120 MPH - 1000hp = 92K (Gauranteed 120mph)
Now let's tack on another 17mph... I think your 90K ish just turned into more like 100K ish... Probably more like 105 - 110Kish... http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif
56K (I round up) for a baseline HTM that we'll say runs around what 60-65mph?
VS
55Kish (as you like to say) for a 128mph liberator with Twin O/B's OOOORRRRR...
A 22.6 Nordic for 55K that'll do 72mph and well..... We don't want to get into the aesthetics department....
Movie Quote time for Havasu Hangin over there... "Don't mess with the bull son you'll get the horns." How many movies can you think of? I got two already. http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif
I swear to god I kill myself on these boards.. Either that or MR.Pump really will Kill me when we go for a ride!! http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif If you put on a lifeline jacket or anything I'm gettin outta the boat!
MrPump, I'm just joking with ya.. I hope you realize that.. Don't take it personal, I wouldn't joke if I didn't like ya. I think it's great what you guys are doing with the racing etc... and overall I think there nice boats..

Thanks, Glad you liked the boat, there is sadly alot of bad spirted people out there. Do you remember in high school when a teacher put everyone in a big circle, then told the first person a simple sentance. By the time it got to the end of the circle you could not make heaads or tails of the sentance. We are the new guys, so we are like the freshman of the school, who does everyone pick on....

RD, Whats up bud,
now now now You load up the liverator with 5 people and I'll load up my HTM with the same amount plus a 50 pack of silvers on Ice and we'll take a little jount from the Island to the Dam and back and We'll probably have 42 coldies left for you when you get there, Im only allowing two coldies per guest while I'm driving the rig, I dont want to make too many stops, Lets say we make it in the middle of the day so we can get all the big chop, that always makes it more interesting, I'm sure theres a few of the bigger cats that would love some of that action, probably hold more silvers too.....
Let me know? I'm sure pumps would be in for the fun, what do you say Mr Pumps?
Good luck on the project, (Liberator)

Hey RD,
If the chop gets too big for you, you can come ride with me, my boat loves big chop!

Liverator eh?? Well I can take a joke as well as anyone, however if you have 42 silvers left over either your partying with a group of panzi's or your boat is "super duper fast" which I guess is what you wanted me to believe.... However, Being that I ain't sitting in the back of my own boat I don't much care how comfortable it is just shut up and hold on right? However, I'm willing to do that.. Granted my boat isn't done yet, but I happen to know a guy with a Liverator as you put it with a single little 300x on it... What do you say we make it from Topok To Parker Dam and back? What kind of crew will you be rolling with?? Becuase I can almost garauntee by the time you get there we'll be off getting MORE BEER!

In the back of a "liverator" even... Think your HIGH TROUBLE MARINE is up to iT?? http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif
(Just a little ribbin guys)

Wow, now your talkin, I was being considerate of your internal organs and others, I know what a beating my liver took on the water, not since upgrading to the cat and length and freeboard, things are smoother at speed..
Plus wifey likes it much better, and that makes everything alot easier....

HTM Lady,
I'm glad the HTM company came on to defend its interest. I'm not certain if you were trying to be edgy with me or not. The first time I read your reply I thought so but, after reading it again it just looks like you were tired of the b.s.
My comment / observation was about posts in general and not this HTM thread specifically. It just happened to be on this thread. I have been on the Hot Boat board for awhile now (roughly 101 post as "Kwicherbichen" and 169 as "Riverlover") and although most of the post are sedate, fun, and informative there are some a-holes that start shit with no evidence. Maybe, although I doubt it will happen, fellow board members will disregard anything that is not founded by evidence.
A few months back there was some dipshit that got on the board and complained about manufacture "H". After several hundred post all we discovered is that the guy that started the thread was probably giving us a hand-job.
I guess the best advice to bashers should be: if you're not happy with your purchase take it up with the manufacture. If that doesn't work, hire a shark (attorney). Document it well, then post for us to see. Otherwise, shut-the-f*ck-up.
On another note, thanks RD for covering my back my OP6 brother.
Brian
Oh yea, have a nice day

KWB is right, if there is a problem, regardless of the manufacturer, have a talk with them, don't come in with guns blazing though. When you buy a boat, you are also buying into a relationship, treat it as such and give the other side a chance to make the situation right. Unlike automobiles, when you never really talk to the factory, most all of us can contact the factory and reach an authority of the company and get decisions made rather rapidly.
I too, think that the bashing without warrant should stop. I would also like to see some of the boasting lay off a little bit as there are some that can do a better job of backing up their numbers than others. One thing that I have learned is that there is always someone out there that is faster than you!
HTM builds a nice boat. So do many other MFGs. We gotta all learn to get along!

Brian,
You guessed right, Not trying to be edgy. Just tired of the bs. Its really great that the people on now are sharing information and photos. There even seems to be some joking. Thats the way it should be. Not everyone is going to have the same opinion about any boat, just like cars, but yes a boat purchase is just like an auto its a relationship with the dealer. People need to keep their dirty laundry to them selves. Alot of times they change the story/truth to try and make themselves feel or look better and that helps no one. Keep up the positive imput and maybe we can get these posts straightened out.
Have a Great Day!

Riverdave, Hey bud hows everything? I would have sold you my DCB Mach 22 for 50,000. It is a way better boat than the liberator, and I know from experience it can beat up on a few HTM's that frequent Parker
-
KAB, HOW'S IT GOING BUD?? It's been a while.. Did ya get your 26 yet?
As far as the Liberator DCB deal, I'd have to agree with you (for now. http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif) There are some things about to happen as far as Liberator is concerned.. I can't talk about it at the present time, but I can say that at the end of the day I know for a fact the "rigging" will be equal too... well ya know.. As far as Hull Design etc.. They don't have as much room in them, but it is a "faster" hull near as I can tell. Or actually I should say from the performance data that I've seen.

Thanks Scott I appreciate that!! And I fully intend on taking you up on that next season!! Maybe even at the end of this year if you can make it out here!
Chet... I think I'll be fine in the rough stuff. I have alot of friends running big boats so I'm not to worried about it..
On that note I'm not sure how many of you guys like Water Ski Racing, but the Catalina race is going to be on Speed Vision Tonight!!
Look for my buddy running a solid White 38' Formula (I'm sure there'll be stickers all over it) and it will say Lyall Turbosonics across the back... 10pm Eastern, and 7 & 11 pm pacific..

Riverdave- I picked up the 26 a few weeks ago, heading back out to parker the end of november. The liberator should be faster than the mach 22 with equal power, its smaller. I dont know what you have up your sleeve, but I'm sure its good. I definitely want a ride if you get it.

A ride?? Sh*t bud you know more about driving twins then I do... How about I slide on over to the passenger seat and you can drive! http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif
