Anyone been to DP lately? Just wondering what the water level is like. I hear it is way up. I'll be out there on a houseboat Aug 20th - 25th.

I hear the water level is up!! That is a cool lake to rent a house boat, I have done it over 4th of July four times. Havent been upthere in a couple of years though.
The lake levell is just under 800 feet. It should be well above 800 in August.

Thanks for the info. We have been doing trips there since I was a kid. For the last 7 years we rent a houseboat for a week. I is definitely a great lake. The only thing it lacks is sandy beaches. Even though you can pull the boat up on shore, it would be nice to have sandy beaches. Has anyone been to Lake Melones? Is it nice, any input would be helpful.
Thanks!
I'll be at D.P. at the end of july - I've driven by it several times, gonna boat there for the first time this year. The worst thing about the central valley lakes (although there are alot of them to choose from), is the lack of sandy beaches.

Nope. :p
I was there sunday to take the boat back to storage and it is looking sweet. ill be there for memorial and Im there every year for the 4th of July the fireworks kick a$$. Im there usually every weekend when not in Havasu :)
Thanks for all the input. I am looking forward to heading up there. I am trying to make more truips up that way, and hopefully this summer I will be there more than once. Elim4life, take some pics if you happen to go up there over Memorial.

My wife and I are going up in the first week of June. Any campground recommendations? (with hookups)
Fleming Meadows is the best place to camp. Here is their website: http://www.donpedrolake.com/Camping_Home.aspx

We were just up there two weeks ago picking up our new boat. The lake looked really good but we did not run it.
E4L, I wish I had know you were up there. When I saw the Turlock exit, I told Jason "I KNOW some from the boards lives here" Owell, maybe next time.

When my boys get a little older, we'll do the houseboat gig. :( For now, we'll have to content ourselves with the campsites. :mix: Thanks for advice on Fleming Meadows. I'm going to make reservations this morning.
Current water level is 809 above sea level. The lake is supposed to hit 828 by the end of June and hold that level til the end of August. Thats just 2 feet short of the 830 max level. Here's the link:

Sometimes it's a few days behind. I was there over the weekend and couldn't keep the houseboat beached cuz the water was rising fast.
Gonna be a glorious summer.

Your houseboat looks familiar but not your boat. I used to work at the marina when I was in HS now I just go there and party every weekend excpet when Im in Havasu
Sounding Good!!! Anyone up there know of any decent hotels? Normally we usually rent a houseboat, but want to make a few trips up there. Used to always camp at Fleming Meadows, but now having a 6 month old it makes it tough to camp without a motorhome.

Where is 49er Bay? Is your houseboat out of Fleming or Moccasin Point?
Did you say Hotels ha ha there is none and we probably will never see any on the water BLM owns all the lad around the lake. There is some in Jamestown or Oakdale or Merced which ever you prefer but still about a 30 min ride from both

we are on the Fleming side. Our call sign is Pleasure Pad.
49er bay is right accross from the marina. it goes down a ways and there is some great spots. look for the floating outhouse and you found it.

Which marina is 49er accross from? Fleming I assume?

ya im sorry. its across from fleming . there is two coves with mooring balls for the houseboats. it's just to the right of them looking from the marina.

sorry i went brain dead we are on the fleming side  :D
I hear ya, that helps but it will be a hell of a drive on the Houseboat from Mocacasin to 49er cove. Not time, but it will burn some gas. We normally go to the powerlines, by the entrance to railroad canyon from fleming, exit coming from moccasin, by the Marina milage sign where the bathrooms are. This way we are in the middle and we can run the boat all over the lake rather than the Houseboat. I will be up there on August 20th for sure on a Houseboat. I have a blue/white Ultra Stealth. If you are up there come by for a beer or just to hang.
