Below is a picture a one of the plugs taken out of BBC 468. Does anyone know what causes the soot on the porcelin portion of the plug ? 7 out of 8 looked like this. Thanks for any info.

Possible bad plugs from detonation? Don't your spark plug boots cover this area of the plug?

If they were to get hot enough to turn the porcelin(sp) any color at least the ground strap would show signs of melting....No? I have never seen a plug cooked before...hmmm.
