I am looking for a new camera and wondering which is the best. I'll be using it for personal as well as business use. For business, it will be to photograph some things to put into print as marketing tools.
I really like the Canon Rebel XT 8.0 mp and you can change out the lens. Is $800 a good deal for this camera?
Is the Canon XLR 8.2 mp $600 better than the one listed above?
    Thanks!

I am a real big fan of nikon. most of them use "normal" batterys and the memery cards are cheap compared to most. It sucks when you have to shell out 40-70 bucks for a battery.

We just got the Canon Digital Rebel XT. Its a kick ass camera.
There are a couple sites I used to choose.
www.pbase.com Click on the Camera Database. You can view pictures of taken with almost any camera out there and compare.
http://www.dpreview.com/ Great resource for choosing a camera.

Thanks. What additional lens did you get?

Cant go wrong with the dig slr type.I have an older canon eos rebel 6.3 it will out shoot any point and shoot camera even the 8 pixel ones. The newer xts are pretty nice. You have the advantage of interchangable lenses too.have had it for 2 years and dont plan on changing yet
IMO go with the xt the price has dropped to baout 800 if you look around thats with the 18-55mm lens. Also there is a 1.6 ratio in dig vs 35mm example a 100mm lens is equal to a 160mm lens when used on the digital slr

I haven't bought one yet. But I am leaning towards a 300mm lens :crossx: The 18-55mm it came with isn't doing the job.
They say a 200mm lens on the Digital SLR camera is like a 300mm on a standard SLR.

I have that lense for my 35mm Canon Rebel. It works great for those across the Channel shots. :crossx: My next step is the digital Rebel. 300mm. Great shots.

    Damn, those lens are expensive.
Where is a good source to pick up a 300mm-400mm lens to use for sporting events (racing)?
For the Canon REbel XT, can you only use Canon lens?
