I got one from Hi Tech, it works great. The residential valve does not allow all the extra water to go over board, like thin one. Don't know how well it wiil work.

Can I use a "residential" water pressure regulator set @ 25psi on my jetboat? Or is there some other kind of setup I can use? What would be ideal?

I agree, I have tried the pressure regulators and it is best to have a pressure relief valve that will dump the excess water. I have installed the item in the link below. It works great. I have it set to open at the pressure that is reached at ~2500 rpm. With this, I idle at 180 degrees and run at 140 degrees. The pressure in my engine climbs to only 6-7 psi at full throttle now on an agressor A at 5400 RPM. Before, all the things I tried to control the pressure in the block with would still give me water in the oil eventually. Since you have an Olds too, maybe you are having the problem I was. If the item Jeanyus suggested is cheaper, I would go with that. I did not know about it when I bought the valve I have. It cost $75.00 but at least it works. I also had to buy the rest of the hardware already included with the Hi Tech setup.

Thats the one I run and have never had any problems either. Just check the screen every few trips and you would be fine.

I run the one from rex marine. It does the same thing as the others and stopped all my head gasket problems.
I got one from an ag spray supply store. its a relief type valve and is adjustable from 0-50psi. Its also plastic, i think it looks better and is lighter than the brass ones.

I would be worried about the plastic. Jet pumps at WOT can make 300+ psi
As for the weight issue, you won't notice a difference if it was plastic and weighed 1 pound or if it weighed 10 pounds.
