    hi,
I need some help with some new changes that im doing to my engine. currently I'm running a 476 bbc with .250 longer rods . 10.5cr. with ported square port open chamber heads . current cam shaft is a crower roller with 256/266 @.050 lift duration and 680/680 lift. 107sep.. I'm tired of the maintance of this set up. It eats valve springs. Engine turns 5800 with 32 pitch bravo prop..Im wanting to detune. change heads and cam shaft. I' m going to ported oval port heads and a 246/250 @.050 cam shaft(roller) with 580/578 lift. on a 112 sep. any ideas on how this will affect top rpm?? idle?? current cam has a nasty idle but goes>...advise thanks

You might try posting this up in gear heads, probably get a better response.

Your max rpm is what's eating up your springs. Less duration on the intake side-more torque keep max rpm to 5200 rpm. remember max hp= money.
