its no big deal to put an outboard reg. it plugs up to the alt. and you wire a ingnition wire and the battery lead to the reg. and you are done that way it leaves more room in the alt. for windings and to disipate all of the heat let me know if ya need one or whatever u need I can get whatever you want

If you are running dual batteries with a stereo system will 100amp alternator be sufficent? I heard that the RPMS need to run high to get good use out of a 200amp alternator ? Is it worth the extra money?

Is it worth the extra money? it depends on how much u are gonna drain them???how many amps does your system draw. you can get altenators to charge at different RPM's
depending on your apllications we have a couple SPL monsters that have dual 240 amp alternators and are putting out full power @ 1200 RPM's just depends on what ya need
