Oil Flow Direction in 460 Ford

Which way does the oil flow thru the oil filter? Down the middle and out the sides or vice versa?

One source I read said, outside to inside, still searching though...
OK, I guess it is outside in at least according to this sight....

from outside to inside
if it was the other way around, you wouldn't have to cut the filter open to find what trash is in it.
