They are only used on small blocks. Big blocks only mount directly.
I currently am running a piece of crap holley blue, second one in 6 months, anyways i am gonna switch to a edelbrock victor manual pump, I need to get rid of the block off plate and install a new pushrod, question is sumitt tells me that i do not need a fuel pump mounting plate and that they do not sell one, jegs says i need one but they also do not sell one, (small block only) advice on where to locate one? (pep boys?)

I did the same thing this summer after burning up 3 Holley electric pumps in less then a full season. Since I switched to a mechnical pump I have had zero problems.
On a BBC you do "NOT" need a block off plate...........
I run an edelbrock victor pump 100+gph ,and dyno says I use 50ish gph at over 500hp all day long. It's a great pump! so far!
P.S. Get the light weight pump rod too.

If you're running a roller cam, make sure to get the lightened bronze tipped pushrod. Clay Smith has them for about $20.
Super D did they ever get the bottom plates for the 460 FORDs?I have not heard from you.
Jake
Jake, It's going to be awhile before I get those made. The ones that edelbrock sells will fit a Clay Smith pump too if you're in a hurry.
No hurry just wanted to check in, so you knoe I want one when they come in.
On a side note why any one would want to put more wires and eletrical stuff in a boat is beyond me.Keep it simple stupid and the thing will run every time with no problems. The only exp would be MSD for me because it cures the hot starting problem for Fords.
