Thread: UPDATE on HBjet's never ending projects.

Ok, This year, I seem to be getting myself into too many projects at once. My main gold for this winter was to have new interior made for my boat. Well, I've managed to spend around 2k already, and I still don't have interior (Boy is MissHBjet pissed http://free.***boat.net/ubb/smile.gif) Well, let me first start by saying non of this wouldn't of happened if I didn't have the help of RacingRascal. He came to me one day before I started getting myself into more mess then I could handle, and told me about his 19' blown jet boat. he mentioned how his boat is getting rigged, the way he wants it, and he doesn't have to do anything. He also mentioned, that since his boat is new, and everything will be perfect (give or take) he really won't be doing any major projects on his boat, like I would be doing on mine. He really wanted to have the experience of working on a jet boat, like an older, used, and in need of some repairs type of a boat, but, he wouldn't want to own such a hunk or junk, so that is why he hangs out with me. To work on my hunk of junk boat (As he puts it) After I ripped out all the interior, we drilled out all the old motor mount holes in the stringers to 5/8" and filled them with a wood dowel, glued and cut to sit flush with the stringer. Then we sent the boat to Ultra Boats for Martine to reglass the stringers, and reglass in the tanks (they were loose in all but one spot) re-enforce the bulk head, and grind out all the old carpet glue. Once the boat came back, it was time to install the rail kit I purchased from John at JM Marine. We (RacingRascal) leveled and setup the rails. We drilled the new holes through the stringers and set the motor up to the pump for the closest alignment to straight as we could (which is much better then it was before) After the motor was setup, I was thinking, it would be nice for the bildge area to look like a newer boat. All grey with a blue web splatter look. Hmmm, can we fo that. Sure RR say's, I have a gravity feed spray gun (I think that's what it's called) So, I went to a local gelcoat/fiberglass supply house, and explained what I wanted to do. 5 different items and 50 bucks later, I have everything I needed. So I pulled the motor back out, removed the rail kit, and cleaned everything up again. We then masked off everything. I wasn't going to remove the pump and intake (next year) so we just had to mask around it. I know in the photos, it may look kinda cheesey, well, it took up about 5 hours to do everything. Hey, that's what you get when you have a 30+ Coors Lights involved, and us to lazy asses. After everything was masked off, the next day we (RacingRascal) sprayed the Gelcoat, which was his first time spraying gelcoat. He sprayed the grey, and I took photo's. The we mixed the blue with a web sloution which give the web look. Let me tell you, it sure looked thin, and we were both saying, how the hell is this going to web? A few sample shots on a piece of wood in the garage, and sure enough, web! Cool, we figured out what would look best (you have to adjust how much your spraying, with the distance of the gun from the surface to find the look you want) and then sprayed. I was so stoked. After an hour+, we added the PVA (?) I forgot the name, it's late and that is a dark green liquid and I guess it seals everything. Tomorrow, I need to wash it off with a wet rag. So I'll have more photos of it. Anyways, I just wanted to let everyone know what my boat looked like before and after, and also let everyone know, if you find the right sucker (in a non prison way) you can sit back and relax while they do all the work! haha!
    Just Kidding, Thanks again Andy!
