Marine Radio

girlfriend gave me gift card to the boat supply store and I want to pick up a portable marine radio. Whats the best one out there for a decent price?

Ditto on the recommendation on the Icom units. They are very high quality. You can get them at West Marine.

Icom makes a great radio. The problem is, I hardly ever use my radio. I seem to alwasy be close to a cell tower, and in most cases, I use the cell incase of an emergency. But it is always safe to have a radio on board.

cost guard says dont use a cell in an emergency they cant find your position
unless you can give GPS coordinates
the marine radio is the way to go
