I recognize that boat. That is Frank Nagore's "Blue Thunder". That thing was built by Tom Papp and holds a couple records at NJBA & IHAB I think (or did)?

OK OK OK so the pop-off valve is set at a pressure that is higher than the normal running pressure in the pump but lower than the pressure that can build up under a stall condition ? With out the valve the water scooped up by the intake would pressurize and go back out the intake ? Would a rudder on the pump nose help to control the boat , it sounds like your saying the boat would spin out . Is the pop-off valve triggered by pressure only ?
