Ok guys what is the good, bad and ugly of these coatings (does the coating really last do you see any performance gains, ect.)?
Is the JetHot Marine the way to go or just plan Sterling?
Whats the cost to coat O/T headers?
Any other companies that do a good job that are local?
    Thanks,
    Jerry

I am in the same position as you. I have bassatt OT headers that need refinishing. I got a quote of $230 for ceramic coating. Guy said it was the same thing as jet hot but I'm not sure. If anyone has pics of some OT headers with this finish they could post I would apreciate it. Not sure how it will look in the boat.

I've seen a few boats with ceramic coated headers, looks good to me and seems more functional/durable than chrome. I had a set of headers done by Jet-Hot, their qaulity and customer service was outstanding, they even sent me a card a couple weeks later thanking me for the business! I delt with Steve at Jet-Hot, my Bassetts are going to them when the chrome is shabby.

Works very well....my dad uses it on his Radial aircraft engine exhaust (both inside and out) and has had zero issue in 8 yrs and 1000+hrs. They still look new!

Jet-Hot and Ceramic Coatings are the same. The ceramic is mixed with aluminum powder. The headers are polished after coating which gives it the shinny "almost chrome" finish. The problem is that the aluminum will burn off at 1200 degrees. This is usually a problem at the "curves" in the headers close to the exhaust ports. Mostly this happens with race motors that run as lean as possible. With our Cracker Box motors we see exhaust temps of 1600 or greater. We'd burn the shinny stuff right off. To solve this problem, there is a ceramic coating with titanium powder instead of aluminum. It is said to withstand up to 2000 degrees. It's not as pretty, sort of a pewter color, but it doesn't burn off. I use Cap's Brite Hot Coatings in Fresno. They are great to work with...

I did Jet Hot on my IMCO exhaust recently. Came out pretty good and only cost about $200

I got these done through Harman Marine (http://www.harmanmarine.com) in Anaheim. They are near the 91 and 57 freeways and a couple of blocks away from Bassett. Todd Duncan is the owner. If you go there, tell him I sent you. Last year, it was $200.

Well, there...you need to give Todd Duncan a copy of this photo for his, uh, Marketing Effort...! I'm sure people will notice the nice finish...on the headers...maybe...(Headers??? are there headers in this photo? Hmmm. I'll look again.)
