Thread: PCV questions

When I purchased my boat the motor did not have any provisions for a pcv. It only has a couple of breather caps. When I run it hard I get oily film everywhere. Not huge amounts but enough to accumulate and get messy. I would like to hook up a pcv setup but I have a few questions.
1)Am I correct in saying that I only put the pcv in one side of the engine and a breather in the other.
2)I have dual quads. Where should I tap the PCV into? Im worried that taping into the base of only one carb may affect the balancing / vacume signal of the carbs. I thought about teeing the line to the pcv but It would be very difficult to tap into the second carb as its very close to the front carb.

since you are not worried about emmisions on a marine application, ther is no need to tap into the intake system for the pcv. use the exhaust intead. it will pull the same way and not effect the vacume signals for the carbs.

    Humm,
I have lightning headers. Im not sure where I would tap into them. Plus I think it would be better for the enviroment if I run it through the engine first. I wouldnt want to look like the exxon valdez.

If you have a vacuum port in the manifold itself, you can plumb the valve to it. Earls used to sell a breather with a PCV in it and an AN fitting.
