As I understand it, to do that,you have to drill and place xtra bolts in your pump to keep it in one piece from the xtra pressure that the reduced nozzel would create.
Of course, I could be wrong but that's my story.

You might want to call Frank Place. I asked him the same question and he basically told me to leave the nozzle at 3 1/8" ID.
mellow yellow,i think all place diverters are 3 1/8 diam,if you have the f.t.n. it allowes you to change the inserts,if not you have to bore the mouth of the diverter bigger to accept the new insert,you will have to drill a small hole and tap the side of diverter to hold nozzle in place.
The general idea is this.large dia. nozzle give a better hole shot but decreesed top end and just the reverse for the smaller nozzels . Miller is right depending on your diverter machining my be necesarry.

You can measure the bore to be sure yours is standard sized.
