You could run one channel to each voice coil but there isn't really a reason to do that. All you need is a mono amp to push that sub, but you could get a 2 channel amp and bridge it.
wont any mono amp put the swr-1021d at 1 ohm and not be stable because its a daul 2ohm? so i thought a 2 channel would be 2ohms to each of the hookups on the sub?

The amp doesn't put the speaker at 1 ohm, it's the other way around. Depending on how you wire the speaker. Some amps are stable to 1 Ohm. That Alpine isn't. You could find one that is but if you want a decent set up for your budget, I still say order the amp and speaker set up I suggested.
so matt
with your setup up ....does the total watts come to 300 ?
Toomstone :crossx:
Actually it comes to 350W x 1 RMS (2ohm @ 14.4V).
thanks alot for your help matt....one last question....can you control the subs bass on any headunit you buy or does it have to be the same as the amp?
If you want to control the sub by itself you need a head unit with RCA sub outs. It doesn't matter who makes it. Most new head units today have RCA outs for front, rear, and sub.
