how much HP can a Bravo1 handle

I need some help, I'm going with a blown 454 that should put out about 700-800 hp and not sure how reliable a bravo 1 is going to be for this hp. Any one else doing the same power verses drive?? :hammer2:

Treat it with a little care and dont abuse it and if and when it breaks do the Max Machine thing with the tower & gears, why spend it now especially if $$$ tight just my .02$ NSF

if your easy on and off.. you should be fine.. I upgraded mine to xr .. but ran it with 800hp for a year.. no issues.. now Im putting about 1200 to it .. and so far it looks ok..
just be gental .. it will be ok till you can afford the new drive parts..
with that power you should be going pretty fast..
do you have external steering?..
I would consider that first

The size boat greatly affects the drive longevity. I see from your profile that you have a DCB Mach 26. My guess is that you will be lucky to get one year out of it assuming you use it quite a bit.

Mercury packages their HP600 SCi motor rated at 600 HP with the Bravo 1 XR drive, but the HP850 SCi rated at 850 HP gets mated with the #6 drive. Draw your conclusions from there.

I ran 620 HP behind a B1 for a couple seasons......
Eventually it WILL fail......maybe sooner than later.....
800HP on a B1......Time-Bomb.......with a short fuse.....
I have trouble keeping a Max Machine drive alive behind 800+ HP.....
