I added a male/female threaded hex at the end of my cable.works great.
You might need to cut about 1/4 of the threaded cable and adjust both sides of shifter cable.

What are you using as a shifter?
I have a Rex Marine shifter and it needs to be set on the longest throw at the shifter and the shortest throw on the shift shaft lever.
There are two holes in the shift shaft lever so you can try moving to the inner hole, if you don't have enough throw in your shifter.
Does it skip out of gear or just stay in neutral? You should be able to get either forward or reverse with any shifter and any amount of throw, although you may not be able to get both without adjusting.

It looks like a dana but not sure. Just showed a service center what its doing and I was told is the gears themselves. so I have to have it rebuilt or just buy a new one. :burningm:
Well that what I thought just needed an adjustment. :hammerhea
Its all good. Thanks everyone for your help.
