The first part is easy, he has a loader, not a rock grate. Second part is a little tougher. That rock had to be just the right size and shape and enter at the right angle to get back that far. Probably lucky it stopped where it did. If it got into the area between the impeller and bowl vanes, it could have caused some damage.
