I'm in the market for a new boat. I have a 21' Checkmate w/ 225 Promax that does 70ish. I want my next boat to do 80+. Here's my dilema. I want to go fast, but still have good ski-ability. I have never driven a cat before, but from what I've gathered a mod VP or V-hull would suit me better. I'd like some opinions on these boats.
    1) DCB 22 w/ 300 Promax or HP500/496HO
    2) Stoker 224 w/ HP500 or 496HO
    3) Ultra 21 or 22 Stealth w/ HP500
I run on an inland lake and ski 30% of the time. If any of you have these setups I really want to hear from you.
    Thanks in advance

I dig the Ultra. E-mail me and I'll go into detail if you want. http://free.***boat.net/ubb/cool.gif

I have had a V bottom (22 Scarab) and the boat road great but built horribly!! I just had the chance to go out to ultra's factory they build some great stuff. The fit and finish is outstanding. Getting ready for my own ultra 19"shadow (tunnel).

If you're looking for 80+, you'll have a much easier time doing it in the DCB or the Stoker than the Ultra. Plus there is nothing like a tunnel for the smooth high speed ride. If you plan on doing a decent amount of skiing and you plan on taking a lot of people with you, the Ultra might be the way to go. Tunnel boats aren't known for their vass amounts of room and storage. No matter which boat you choose, I'm sure you will be pleased. If I can answer any questions for you please call me. 619-443-1100.

I owned a Stoker 20.4 for 4 years. It ran 97 on the gun with a 2.5 260hp Merc.I made 15 weekend trips to Havasu a year and the only money I put into the boat was at the gas pump.Very good boat.I still miss her.Bought a bigger boat so I wouldn't get swamped by the 40 footers in Havasu.
