I got a oil temp. gauge and was thinking about putting the sender in at my remote oil filter. I thought of putting tie in the incoming line. I know it should go in the pan, maybe next time I have to pull the motor. But for now will this work.

That's where I have mine and it seems to work just fine. I think there was a pretty long thread regarding this issue but I can't remember when, try a search. My opinion is that it's relative. It will be different in different places but it will let you know of any changes from your regular operating temperature no matter where you put it. Being that you are in AK, you should probabl look for the coolest oil to put it in to make sure you are at full temp before giving it any WOT passes. Just my 2 cents-Aluminum Squirt

Thanks for the info, the lake are not to cold they are shallow so the water warms up.
