Just got off the phone with them; they're reimbursing me for my raw-water pump that was just replaced by Savage. The impeller was gouging the brass housing. No questions asked.
The $475 will buy a tank of gas, at least.
Anyone with a 496 HO under warranty can get the same treatment
    Oh yeah. Savage rocks!! :notam:

I was under the impression that they all did that depending what was run through the pump, such as muck from shallow water running, etc.
Good for Mercury, did Steve handle the details on the reimbursement, or did your phone call do the trick?

Phone. Steve had a box of about 25 pumps at his shop, though. Back when I had an alpha drive and the pump consisted of a plastic housing, etc. it wasn't covered under warranty. So when I got the news they were pulling it and how much, I was
All in all. A good day.
