it may cost a few bucks but it will be worth it,,,look over his shoulder,if it happens again then you can trouble shoot it
So the heat pump/a-c(new, installed about 2 years ago) is working poorly, all the equipment is working and not froze up. I know car a/c systems and it seems to be low on freon. Houses use R22 I believe.
Do the R12 gauges for cars also work on home a/c's , and is R22 available to the public or do you need a license like for R12? (I'm in AZ)
What sort of pressures(high side/low side) should you see if the temp out side is around 100* with about 60% humidity?
And of course the final question. Should I keep my paws off of it and call a tech?

Got a call into the guys that installed it. But as usual it's a little busy for the A/C guys this time of year
lil help :rollside:
call my buddy Brandon he owns his Multi mechanical and he should be able to answer your questions 1-714-632-7404
He still might know some one over there or be able to walk you threw it so you dont get ripped off
Well all I had to do was throw $250 bucks at it and presto the house is a chillin again. Had a broken pipe/solder joint at the accumulator and all the freon was by by. Sucker holds 12 pounds just glad it was R22 not R12
As far as skilled tradesman answering questions, comes with the territory. I've been answering crazy car questions for years. Its all about choices and paying it forward.
If it's only 2 years old, then it should be covered by warranty from the manufacturer. I think most of them now are 5 years parts and labor, some have 10 years on the compressor.
Any licensed tech should be able to do warranty work on it.
alan, sounds like know your chit, when you get done patroling the strip, come out to the coast and hook up w/ a job - keyes
Thanks, but when I'm done doing this, I'm done doing anything.
Besides, it's been too long (nearly 30 years) since the Coast Guard sent me to the Navy AC&R school. 12 weeks in beautiful downtown Norfolk.
Hey. Anyone need a lithium bromide or amonia refrigeration system specialist? :notam:
