    You're right, 3 and 5 would be a head gasket between the cylinders. The next question is why??????? Along with the flatness of the head/block, don't over look the fasteners, head bolts do die and loose their tensil strength. I've seen it too many times, new gaskets, same problem. Also check the block threads, especially BBCs that are live to water..........MP

    If I wanted to do a leak down test,
    how do go about doing it?
    Get one of these ans screw it into your spark plug hole while piston is at TDC ... connect it to your compressor & calibrate (set the air via it's regualtor) to 100 psi. It will show you how much air is leaking (shown as a percentage) 5% is normal leakage for a good motor ...
