I'd recommend the Mallory 4110M Marine Electric Pump for what you've got. Just email sales@rexmar.com for more info and pricing if you're interested.
I'm deep into my 455 rebuild which will feature a mild cam and holley 750. My engine compartment is enclosed. Is electric the only thing available? If so, recommendations? Thanks, Mike

Mike, Electric is your choice unfortunately. I looked for a mechanical for mine and they havent manufactured marine Olds mechs for 10 years. Good luck. Steve
You can go to your nearest autoparts store and buy a mechanical fuel pump. I bought one not more than a month ago from Autozone. Its an on the shelf item. Holley also makes a chrome one. I ran the Holley mechanical one for two seasons feeding a pair of Holley 750 double pumpers on my 455 with no problems whatsoever. You definately don't have to buy an electric one unless you want to.
I dont know if electrical is the best. Cuz if your alternator fails you could have some serious problems. They do make special mechanical fuel pumps for enclosed engines so when they start leaking the fuel is hosed back into your flame arrestor instead of your engine compartment.
I should specify. I have an enclosed compartment so its a marine mechanical. AC Delco rep said they hadnt made them in 10 years. Open compartment: knock yourself out. Steve
I am in the same situation, looking for mechanical USCG approved fuel pump for Olds. Anyone found a source since this thread started?
I've done some digging arround this AM and am not finding much.
I prefer mechanicals, but I think you may well be in line for a block-off plate and new wiring.
