When I had a ford the hot tip was the FMX transmission .
Cast iron cruis-o-matic with a B&M modified valve body and aluminum tail shaft hsg and bell hsg. That's what an FMX was. Gotts to admit, mine, with a Trans-Go shift kit, was the hardest shifting trans I ever had...and the shortest lived. :rollside:

I converted my Sanger to a shortyglide and have the direct driveline, with the u-joints set up to fit the flywheel & Casalle v-drive. The spicer yoke is bulletproof & the driveshaft has a slipjoint to accomodate varying length.
My glide has no torque converter & uses a TCI spline drive to run the pump & input shaft, no oil cooler required, nor whirlaway, drive is 1 to 1, and if there's any loss, I've not noticed, but then its a blown 427 BBC, you'll love low gear in the 5 mph zone, lets you be friends with the sheriff again.......
