Anybody ever tried them for the stereo system?

Back in the day when all you had to choose from was lead-acid batteries, the 6 volters were appealing because they are designed for deep cycling (80% discharge depth levels) and they will magically deliver twice the expected cycle life over a standard 12V cased LA battery. The trailer/moho guys still use them for house batteries for this purpose.
In a boat, there are so many better choices now with the increased technology, along with not having to worry about water levels, acid spillage, etc that they have become obsolete. Weight and space (footprint) factor heavily into this equation also...

If you have the time, do a search on this. You will find it very entertaining. Probably one of the better thread/controversies of all time.

I'll just leave it at this...
I put them in my last boat, actually 6 to be exact (Trojan T105) and they are not in my new boat, never considered it.
