I am putting the heads on my chevy 496 i am building, and the new gaskets do not have the cutouts for the water jackets to go up to the heads. Is this a problem?Should i cut them out ?Are they needed for marine application? What gasket should i have for this engine?I currently have the fel pro 1037 performance/marine gaskets >Are they the right ones...Any help appreciated..

I use the 1037's as well. Never had a problem.
Not sure but the 496 is likely a Mark VI block. Are the gaskets you have for a Mark IV/V? Their are likely differences.
The 1037 is noted as working with all Gen 4 Bowtie/5/6 blocks. I do have a set of cometics that I ended up not using if your interested. $150 and that includes shipping.
pictures?
my olds gaskets do the same.. I compaired the to the ones i took off and the same holes where blocked on the old set
