Thread: Houseboat on Shasta Lake

We recently purchased this boat because we wanted to move our Houseboat from Shasta Marina to BridgeBay. (Wanted shorepower)
Anyhow, basically purchased to turn it with a discount. Its actually pretty mechanically sound, could use some updating inside though. Has newer vinyl style windows. Asking price is 69,800 and we are pretty firm on that. (Permits are about 40k now with a junker)
Buy it and then upgrade down the road. These lower priced boats are going to get really hard to find in a yr or so. Great starter HB at a great price. I doubt you'll find anything near this price with the Generator/IO setup. Most run little Honda genpacks/Outboards.

I wish Shasta was closer. What is the permit thing you mentioned all about?

Basically to put a new houseboat on the lake you need to buy an old one and take it off. (No new permits). A junker that is worth nothing goes for about 40k just because of the permit. Its basically take it off and dispose of it. Its only going to get worse as the lower end houseboats go away and more expensive ones are left.

Thanks for the info and good luck with the sale. I thought about doing this same thing at Mead. Not really sure how it works and starting the research process.

Just to clarify since a few have asked the same question.
The boat comes with the morage at Shasta Marina, you get the Permit to keep the boat on the lake, and of course you get the boat. (Of course you pay for the morage, not us. )
We only purchased this to move our Houseboat we owned prior to this to Bridgebay for shorepower.

can you post pics of the inside-??
so you bought this boat which was set at bridge bay, basically just for
the slip at bridge bay to be used for your "previously owned" houseboat-?
    that make sense-??
is it that hard to get on the docks at bridge bay these days-??
wow.... do they allow staying on the docks overnight on the boats-?
    --thanks,

    Pretty sure its a 14x52.
Those are the prior owners pics. Sorry for being blurry.
Slip fee is 300 something. Less if you pay the whole yr in advance. Bridgebay gives no discount and its 420 I believe a month.

Yes you can stay on the docks or float out and tie up somewhere. We stayed quite a big at Shasta Marina on the dock. Summer gets a little busy though so its nice to motor out into an arm somewhere but fall/spring is nice to just hang out on the dock if you wish. (Both the neighbors of the houseboat are real nice BTW.)
You can get boats on the lake and into slips but your going to have a junker figured into the price of the new boat. There are not permits available to just put a boat on without taking one off. Nor can you move to another marina at will, you must do this crap of buy and sell to move.
