Thanks for the info, is it possible to convert the single 22 to a twin 22 setup as well or would the whole transom have to be redone if you wanted to convert to a twin setup.
    Thanks

dont know about a single but my dads with twins runs about 118-120 with some lower compression heads allowing it to run on av gas. With the high compression heads on race gas runs about 130. if youre going to do it, do it right and go with twins.

you know i couldnt really tell you. the motors were off his 97 mach 22, it was supposed to be one of the first ones out of the mold. featured on the cover of ***boat back in the day. they said it ran 130 on race gas. when my dad bought the boat the guy didnt sell the higher compression heads with it. i really dont know a damn thing about outboards other than they haul ass.

zcrazy, Twins are a rush :220v: the acceleration is unbelievable! Just try and lift your butt out of the seat, you'll feel like your glued down!
The only draw back I have found is that there pretty light in the bow other than that I would buy another one.
I think a single would be much more predictable when approaching a cross wave, with twins it wants to launch skyward!
I have twin 2.5 Drags on mine with 37cc heads (low comp) and run 92 pump gas because that's all we can get around here and its still faster than sh*t.
Dave told me also with the 26cc heads and race gas it would run around 130 mph.
    Good Luck!

i do agree that the front of the boat does get extremely light and will start to porpus. cant trim it up much passed 2 on the trim guages or it gets sketchy. Tunnel vision what mph have you got yours too run on pump gas and what pitch props are you running. we had 32 clevers on the boat when we first got it and it felt like a little bit too much prop for it. probably would have been fine with the high compression heads on. i believe now it has 28's on it. doesnt cavitate nearly as much out of the hole. still seems to run about the same mph, gets there even faster and does even better on gas.

Not a 22 dcb but a 22 stoker with a 300 vmax and it will run mid 80's
