Whats the difference in a loader that directs water to the bottom of the impeller vs a loader that directs water to the top of the impeller?

I was told that the top loader is for jets going in excess of 70.

I know Talorman's boat goes 70. Would that improve top end speed?
What if I put a top loader on a 65mph jet?

WITH THE SHOE KIT AND TOP LOADER, IT KEEPS A SJ FED WITH WATER OVER 70.TRUST ME ON THIS ONE,EVEN WITH THE BBO,YOUR BOAT WILL BE FASTER.SPEND THE MONEY KEVIN,LOL. YOUR CHEAP LIKE ME .SOMEONE MADE THE LOADER YOUR RUNNIN NOW OUT OF A STOCK ROCK GRATE,NOT EFFICIENT ENOUGH.ITS NOT PUTTIN THE WATER WHERE ITS NEEDED.AS SMALL AS THE INTAKES ARE ON OUR BOATS,YOU GOTTA DO EVERYTHING YA CAN TO KEEP IT FED OVER 70 HIGH ON THE IMPELLOR,THE SHOE'S TAKIN CARE OF THE BOTTOM OF THE IMPELLOR.AS A FELLOW TAYLOR OWNER,I GIVE YOU MY TAYLOR OATH SWEAR IT'LL HELP ALOT,LOL.MINES DONE AND I'LL SEND FINSIHED PICS OF MY INTAKE SUN.,TURNED OUT SWEET.

Mine only hits 64.3 on the gps. 70 will have to wait for a while. Kids gotta eat. I would like to see the pics though.

The originators of the loader (Jeff Bennet, et. al.) designed it to direct water to the top of the impeller as the shoe or back cutting edge of the intake primarily feeds the bottom of the impeller ... a loader that directs water to the bottom of the impeller does not function as loaders were originally designed and does not really help feed/distribute water into the full face of the impeller, which is the real purpose of a loader.
