I got a bravo 1 drive with a 454 mag supercharged with weiand 177 supercharger and super chiller intercooler.
I had my boat at 78 m.p.h. without a nose cone.
I put a nose cone on it and the best I could get was 75 m.p.h.
I thought nose cones made the boat a little faster????
I do not get it Does ANYONE have any idea WTF is going on???
I also lost 100 rpms on WOT.
p.s. nose cone was professionally installed.

The Nose cone cuts down on the amount of slip of the prop, now you dont have the HP to turn it. What pitch are you runing?

    I'm running a 28 pitch 4 blade prop (cupped)

True story. The lower shape is designed for the expected speed attainable with the max designed power. We do not recomend nose cone installs for any outdrive boat with a top speed of less than 90-95 mph. Under that, the top speed gains are usually very small, and the midrange cruise speed at a given rpm is lower too. What works at 30 isn't the best for 70, or 120.Thats why the factory doesn't make all lowers look like #6s. Solution: get a man-sized blower and some engine work so it will run 100 or so. Then you will get some nose cone gain, but your midrange will still feel the loss from the added drag. TIMINATOR

The nose cone will also make you lose a little lift.

What is your definition of motor work?
I have a 454 mag with forged steel crank, aluminum forged pistons, mild lunati cam, triple valve springs, full roller motor, weiand intake, gil marine headers, 177 blower and a super chiller liquid inter-cooler.
Should be pushing over 600 h.p. What do you recommend?
I would like to be in the 90 plus m.p.h.
    All roller stuff is aftermarket....
    Thanks for info.

This is a really bad comparison but here goes...
Take a rear wing off an F-1 car and put it on a Honda Civic. Sure it's a high quality performance part and looks really cool. But you lose top end and performance because it creates more drag than you have horsepower to sacrifice.
From what I gather, this is what you are running into. You put a very high performance racing part on a fast lake boat and it cost you because you didn't have the ponies to reap the benifits of the mod.
    Just my $0.02...

Nose cones do add alot of surface area.
    surface area = drag
Maybe a shorty would have been a good alternative if you're looking to pick up speed?

I have a real blower for sale if your intrested. mooneyham 1471 all complete. run this setup at 10# and you should make enough HP for a 100+ MPH :skull:

Get a real blower, 8-71 or larger, intercooler, and how big is the cam? Head flow #s? TIMINATOR
