Just picked up some Royal Purple to put in my BBC. Mostly stock. Only run it about 4000 RPM max. Is 10w-30 too light. Seems kinda light to me, should I use a heavier oil?

Should be fine as long as the bearing clearences are set to run a thinner oil. The main thing is having your oil pump set up bluprinted/clearenced to be able to maintain good oil pressure at idle and at speed. I run the 5/30 in my sled and maintain 40-45lbs at idle and 65lbs at speed hot. RP doesn't loose it's viscosity and film strength like dino oils so your pressures and lubrication properties will maintain. Thinner oils will allow you a few more ponnies due to less parasitic loss at the oil pump.
